    I have Baylor at 75-1

I selected Baylor before the selection process at a huge price. They get a 3 seed to my surprise and walk into a 10 seed in the sweet sixteen. I will be employing a hedging strategy throughout the remainder.

Thanks Patty. The hedge should be substantially profitable due to the huge price.

My initial bet was 32 dollars. I hedged yesterday with Old Dominion for 32 dollars ML. My next play will be 64 dollars on St. Marys ML.

The remainder of bets will be:

    128
    256
    512

This works out really well if Baylor is the favorite on the ML.

$1024 potential play to win $2400

I have been about even for the tourney. I hit the under Butler and 1H Murray State yesterday. My hedge on Old Dominion lost but that was good. I am sniffing on under Pitt, waiting for a click up and I will punch. No balloons as I can see it.

I saw Kansas St. at 100/1 around Christmas time.

I went and saw them play against UNLV in Vegas around that time, and they totally throttled UNLV.

I saw that that team had everything to win a Championship, and I still didnt pull the trigger on that future.

Started hedge way too early. Duke would most likely be -2, -130 even in Houston and depending how they look next two games could convivably be higher. Scalping just to break even, not even make profit on that game could concievably leave you down 300 going into a SF game with Kentucky.

Kentucky -5, -250. Now what, you need to lay out 750 to break even, maybe you lay 900 gunning for small profit. Then you are down 1200 going into finals where Baylor would be an underdog against Ohio State, Syracuse or K State. Then your profit is all but gone, maybe you salvage one unit.

Big mistake hedging off ODU imho. But, I wouldnt compound things by doing it again v. St Marys. St Marys could very well win, but you are in a great position with Baylor in Houston as a favorite to go to E8, just let it ride. If it loses and you lose two units at this point, you still had a good value play. Can't win them all.

75:1 is amazing value. I got 40:1 after selection show and thought that was a gift. But, the reason you took the high risk play was b/c you thought Baylor had a good chance to make run to atleast FF, I would think. So let them do some work.

BOL whatever you choose, it would just really suck ass if Balyor makes finals, or wins it all and you are left with slim to none profits.

Way too early to even consider a hedge. You made a bet for them to win 6 games, and you are only a 3rd of the way there. Don't overthink yourself and start crapping out of it now. Don't beat yourself up, just let it ride you are in a great spot.

Where did you get them at that odds? I put a wager on Baylor to win before the tourney started as well and got it at half that price.

Ok I will call off the hedge. HEDGE IS OFF. You guys are probably right. Thinking too cautiously, perhaps a hedge later on.

Here we go boys. Tonight the Baylor Bears will give the Contrarian another adrenaline high as they move toward a potential 75-1 payday. No hedge is on, will let it rip to the Elite 8.

Come join me on the ride.

I thought this would be an easy hedge opportunity. As your team is the favorite.

But I have them winning by a mile.

Everyone has been talking me out of the hedge. I am confused. However +185 on Mary's would be a good consolation if my Bears lose.

    What do you think?

Its the easiest hedge to make, when your team is the favorite.

I had a UNLV future to win the MWC tourny this year. They make it to the Championship game, and are favored by 5. I didnt hedge, and they end up losing.

I would hedge every time they are the favorites, b/c you are not losing money on Juice.

I hear you. That's what my mind says for me to do. I don't know why I keep getting pushed away from this hedge. +185 is sweet and a hell of way to leave the tournament as a loser. I am inclined on wagering a small amount, 64 bucks at +185.

I feel like a moron. Feel one way, then another. I am going to trust my judgment.

Well you can hedge for at least your original bet so you don't lose anything but I think Baylor is in a good spot tonight and I have 3 dimes on them to prove it...

That was my intention. If you read the previous posts on this thread, I keep getting beat up to even consider a hedge at this point. Many believe I should wait as this tourney goes forward perhaps the final four.

no hedge, it's way too early. You stand to make nothing; unless you REALLY think they have no chance of winning, you shouldn't hedge.
