Its the easiest hedge to make, when your team is the favorite.

I had a UNLV future to win the MWC tourny this year. They make it to the Championship game, and are favored by 5. I didnt hedge, and they end up losing.

I would hedge every time they are the favorites, b/c you are not losing money on Juice.

oyu cant look at it short sighted. it is easy to hedge when they are favorite, but what happens if they win, like a favorite should. then your hedge the next game just doubled. instead of having to bet Duke to win 64, you need to bet to win 128. If Duke is -4 -200 and Baylor wins, you really start to create trouble.

Hedging this game would have been a poor decision. Fortunately Baylor looked great which should shorten the line next game slightly. If Purdue pulls the upset it would be great.

I am no college bball expert, but Baylor has a lot of size. I would think they are the biggest team in the tourney. You would think they could keep Duke of off O-Glass. They seem to be very athletic too. Duke needs to shoot very well to win game imo. But, thing is, Duke FG% not great if i recall correctly. Baylor will have crowd, and Duke is a weaker team away from Cameron.

What was your reasoning for making the bet in the first place? Did you intend on taking advantage of this and betting off to guaruntee 1 unit? Or, were you willing to accept a high variance play for a big reward. If you made the play specifically because you saw a weak line and thought you could exploit a 1-2 unit win, then maybe you have accomplished that. But that does not seem to be a good strategy because with that rationale, you could have bet Baylor ML for 32 dollars in round one. Take winnings and put it on top of Baylor in Rd 2 and you would have reached your goal.

I think you have to let it ride one more round before thinking about the hedge.

i glanced over the thread. from what ive seen you put $32 to win $2400. thats crushing if they lose today and you dont get some pie back. i think you already tossed away like $64 on it or something, so thats not important. if you have cash that you can put in a book today i would do this:

get a nice bonus, like 50% cash somewhere. put in $500 ($32 with fees) for a balance of $782. At -240 on Duke it would win you $325 even. that would bring your balance to $1107 in a new book......if Baylor wins (unlikely) then you will be -$532 temporarily, but it would just be a matter of crunching the numbers against WV and then Butler/MSU/Tenn in the final to still bring home a good payday........if Duke wins then you basically win $500 total

Also wagerchief has a 50% cash bonus right now. Hes in a good spot with no powerhouses left but they could easily lose this game, he has to do something

Yes now is critical. And by using a books bonus offer (at 50% cash) you are knocking the Duke ML from -240 down to about -180
