    19-Year-Old Capper ---> $800 Start!

I am starting my own thread of picks...you can follow along and I suggest that you don't play these picks until I have proven myself. I have been learning from the best (LakerBoy, Payton20, Paco, etc.) and I am going to begin my Rookie capping year. I will post all plays for all sports in this thread...

I am starting with an $800 bank and my units are 1% of bankroll...I will re-calculate unit after each week. I would appreciate help and insight on the picks that I am releasing!

    Let's get 'em...

great attitude. for me it's second year of betting nba and i learned some things. You must be strict about money managment, if you set a rule, to not play more than 5% or 10% of your bankroll each day, you must obey it. And don't be disappointed if you won't make as much money as you wish. learning on your failures is so important, i can't overestimate it. Progressively you will become better. Good luck on your way!

21er as well...will you be varying your units per pick or just flat betting. I know lakerboy swears by betting varying units per pick based upon how strong of a pick it is. Just curious.

Thanks guys...I will prolly vary my units some yes. Just to let you know, I will be doing all kinds of plays including ML plays, parlays, teasers, spreads, etc...you guys all may think that is a road for disaster, but I have been doing all these plays and have been doing OK...so like I said, there may be times where I will be playing games or teasers or parlays with big juice, and I may chase some home game ML's during the MLB season for example, so like I said, PLEASE look along with this thread and don't bet until I have proven myself!!!!!! OK? As I said before, I am open to ALL insight and help!!! Let's get 'em

    OK...tonight I have:

Sixers ML -138 (Matchbook.com) To win 1 Unit This ML opened at -190 so this is a great value play at -138

Lakers ML / Celtics ML PARLAY -220 (BetUS.com) To win 1 Unit I just can't see the Lakers going down to the lowly Warriors - and the Celtics, well...they better not lose 4 out of 5!!!

Let's get 'em...may have more later.

My advice - roll with the punches. There are going to be days/weeks where you can't make a good pick to save your life. Sometimes it's best to take a break and get away from the game and just follow the scores, sort of like doing research. Most importantly, don't chase after losing the first 3-4 picks in a day. When I lost 75% of my picks in the early games, I call it a day and lick my wounds.

I'm on Philly -2.5 myself and so far things are looking good for you and me both. But I think you should be cautious with this "great value" reasoning. The ML moves for a reason and usually you would want the ML to increase after you place oyur bet, instead of taking it on the decline.

hah love seeing people my age around here too, im 19 as well. I took the under in that Phili first half and got a winner, liked your picks too jolmsheid.

But as for now im thinking i take the under in the Denver/Houston first half until the Laker game gets on. I seen this and it stuck out, this is the Nuggets 4th straight road game and third in four nights. Plus last game in houston at the end of January it was very low scoring for their standards hah so im thinking under 109.5 in the first half. Anyone like?

I wonder why is everyone here young? Is it because all the old people know that you can't make money by sports betting in the long run? As in they know better? And then there are us young people thinking we can actually profit in the long run by doing this...

Tealish...the way I look at the ML play was that the linesmakers opened up the line at -190....Now more often than not, the linesmakers are pretty dang close to being right most of the time...so if I can get a game at -138 that the linesmakers believe should be at -190, then I am getting great value...am I not right??

Also, like if the total of game opens up at 203 (Which the linesmakers think is the number) and it moves to 206, then taking the UNDER would be a great value play because you are basically getting 3 points on top of the linesmakers....

Am I totally off on this??

Tough break on the Philly game. They completely gave up in the 2H. I'm done with them.

As for your example, it really depends. Let's say it opens at -190 for the Lakers vs the Nuggets. And most of the public, like 66% is betting on Denver at +170. If the line moves up to -220 for LAL and +200 for DEN inspite of this, then you know the Books are sure the Lakers are good. Some people will tell you that late line movement, just before gametime, is the most important.

Ok...so if a line opens and most of the public is on a certain side, and that side is STILL going up or down, then you should take the opposite side?? Is that right T? Thanks for your help. All insight is wanted....
