1st Half: OKC pk, 1 unit W
Nice 1 unit thread-starting winner.
I usually play 2nd halfs, but tonight I couldn't resist going with OKC to open the game.
2nd Half: No Play. See y'all tomorrow.
I know, this is an NBA thread. But, gotta go with a College Basketball 1st half pick tonight. Going west... 1st Half: Pacific -4.5, 1 unit
Depending on how things go, I may throw in a 2nd half PHX @ Sac play. Stay tuned.
Going with the Lakers today. The Lakers have the Raptors' "number" in the series between these two teams. This is the last game of long road trip for the Lake Show, and I think they want to go out with an impressive showing. 1st Half: Lakers -3, 1 unit
1st Half: Lakers -3, 1 unit W
I try to end every day on a winning note...so on that note, I'm off to enjoy the rest of my Sunday afternoon. I've been doing really well on halfs since the season began (better than 66% - undocumented) and learned not press for additional winning picks in a single day if I open that day with a winner. The only time I'll throw in multiple picks in a single day is to compensate for earlier losing pick(s). Yeah, I know, I chase. But, I usually do well chasing too if I have enough time to analyze the games remaining on the board. Picking halfs, as many of you know, is a fast-moving process. Sometimes I'll only have up 5 minutes to try and pull out a winner. So I apologize in advance if I make a pick with only a few minutes left before the start of a 2nd half.
Pick Updates (since this thread began)
NBA 3-0, +4 units
NCAAB 0-1, -1 unit
MIA @ MIL: O 97, 1 unit W
LAC @ DAL: LAC -1, 1 unit W
Picks Update
NBA 5-0, +6 units 1000%
NCAAB 0-1, -1 unit
Sweet! That will do it for tonight. Was thinking about a 2nd Half PHX @ GS pick, but as always I like to quit while I'm ahead. Will have more play(s) again tomorrow.
For tonight's games, I'm gonna open it up a little bit.
1st Half
DEN @ DAL: DEN +4, 3 units (DEN is one of the hottest scoring teams currently)
IND @ CLE: CLE +1, 2 units (CLE's Irving in, IND's Granger likely out)
DET @ BOS: DET +5.5, 1 unit (On paper, these two are pretty close in home/away team scoring avgs. Plus, BOS may be already looking ahead to their next game vs. CHI)
May play 2nd Halfs (of these or later games) if any of the above prove to be a bust.

Reason: Typo...meant to say "DEN is one of the..."
LOL, DEN's offensive firepower misfired in the 1st half. Not settling for a break even evening; so here goes a 2nd half pick for this game (DEN @ DAL): U 95.5, 2 units
2.17.12 (1st Half) SA @ LAC: SA +1.5, 1.5 unit (In the last three games during the 1st half, LAC has been somewhat sluggish avg'ing 43 pts while SA has been hot avg'ing 55 pts. Plus, SA has had two days of rest compared to LAC's one day.)
NJ @ CHI: NJ +7.5, 1 unit (NJ's 1st half scoring avg is better when they're "away", keeping up within single digits against superior opponents most of the time. Statistically this season in the 1st half, CHI is scoring about 7 pts more than NJ, but .5 pts LESS in the last three games. CHI's home scoring avg is worse than it's away games, and is only 4.5 pts better when matching up CHI's-home to NJ's-away 1st half scoring avg. Will CHI take NJ seriously going into this game? If CHI's Rose plays, he may not be 100% giving NJ a shot at the +7.5 pts.
I'll probably not make a play on either of the remaining games this evening, but will definitely be back for some Sunday capping action.Enjoy the weekend.
2.19.12 (1st Half) DAL @ NY: DAL -1, 1 unit (Even though they have matching seasonal scoring avgs, I don't buy that a 15-16 team (NY) is only +1 vs. DAL (20-11), a team that has had success in NY in recent times. Must be the "Lin" factor. Will see.

Reason: typo: added that this is a 1st half play only
