    Tennis 10/01 Full Card

    10/01/08 Full Card

ATP Auckland: Juan Monaco (ARG) vs Michael Llodra - Today, 01:00 GMT

Juan Monaco is taking advantage of the slow hardcourt surface of Auckland to destroy his opponents this week. He is playing very well and he is yet to drop a set in here. He defeated two good opponents on hardcourt, showing that his amazing season in 2007 was no fluke. Monaco has clearly progressed in 2007 in his tennis outside clay and his powerful strokes are capable of making almost everyone in the circuit struggle. Players like that are good on clay usually have great results in this tournament, thanks to the slow surface and it's no surprise that last year's final was between two great players on clay: David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo.

Michael Llodra seems to be on-fire this year, but he is already struggling for playing too much tennis. He had to give up from the doubles competition this week, due to a shoulder injury and with this kind of injury, his serve won't be at 100% today. Llodra had to play twice yesterday and after playing five more matches last week, he knows that if he continues to play like that, he'll get worn out next week and he will end up losing in the first round of the Australian Open.

Llodra is yet to face a player like Monaco this year, a player that combines great movement and lots of powerful strokes. Monaco is playing very well and I don't think he should have problems in beating Llodra, who has played a lot of tennis in this first two weeks in the season and that is struggling with a shoulder injury right now. Take Monaco minus the games in here.

WTA Australian Open (Qualification): Urszula Radwanska (POL) vs Alberta Brianti (ITA) - Today, 02:45 GMT

Urszula Radwanska is the number one in the junior rankings, but she is already having good results in the WTA circuit too. She has already a quarter final on a WTA tournament, in Bangkok last season and when a player is talented like she is, she can easily defeat players out of the Top 100 without major problems. Actually she has even defeated Virginie Razzano last season, who is a Top 30 player. She is capable of hitting very powerful strokes and she is also quite consistent on her shots, something that makes her extremely dangerous on a fast surface like this one. She began this season extremely well on the qualifying of Hobart, defeating Anne Kremer (who is the number 82 of the world) in the first round, before losing to Sorana Cirstea, also one of the most talented players in the circuit.

Alberta Brianti is completely lost in the circuit right now and I don't think she could beat a Top 300 player right now, let alone the number one of the junior rankings. Brianti has already played twice this season, losing both times in straight sets to Christina Wheeler and Edina Gallovits. Brianti lacks confidence on her game, especially on her serve, which Radwanska will easily rip apart today, especially with the Italian player offering points to the talented Polish player via double faults. Brianti is 1-9 on her last 10 matches she has played on hardcourt and all losses came in straight sets and her win on a third set tie-break.

This will be a match between a very talented player and a weak player without any kind of confidence. Radwanska is extremely talented (maybe even more than her sister Agnieszka) and she should have no problems in beating Brianti, who is playing like a Top 500 player right now. GAME OF THE WEEK!

ATP Sydney: Tomas Berdych (CZE) vs Chris Guccione (AUS) - Today, 04:00 GMT

Talking about Guccione is talking about tie-breaks. He had an very important win yesterday against Hewitt by 7:6 7:6, where he served 23 aces and won 96% of the points played on his first serve. Guccione loves to play on his country and he is nearly unbreakable in this type of conditions.

Berdych isn't exactly a good returner and he will struggle to break serve today. But he also has a big serve and unless something terrible happens, the Czech will hold serve today without any kind of problems.

This will be a big server vs big server match on a fast surface. I don't think there will be more than one break on the whole match and even though I think Berdych will win, I can't see him winning by more than 7:6 6:4, so I'm taking the over in here.

ATP Sydney: Dmitry Tursunov (RUS) vs Sebastien Grosjean (FRA) - Today, 08:30 GMT

Dmitry Tursunov is having a wonderful week in Sydney. After defeating the Doha finalist Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets in the first round, the Russian player defeated the number one seed Richard Gasquet in the second round, showing why he is called the French killer (9-1 vs French players in the last two years). Tursunov is a very talented ball basher and when he is confident and being consistent, it's very hard to stop him on a fast surface like this one. Tursunov likes the conditions in here and he has no problems in facing good returners, like he has showed yesterday against Gasquet.

Sebastien Grosjean is having a nice beginning of season, but Tursunov will be just too much for him. Grosjean is still a good returner, but his movement isn't the same it was five years ago and recent losses on fast surfaces against Marat Safin, Jose Acasuso and Benjamin Becker show that Grosjean is having a lot of problems in facing players that hit the ball on a very powerful way, not giving him time to return them in good conditions. Grosjean's serve is also attackable and Tursunov should have no problems in winning at least 50% of the points played on Grosjean's second serve.

Tursunov is a horrible matchup for Grosjean nowadays, as the French player can't move that well on court anymore. Tursunov is confident and hitting the ball very well, something that should be more than enough to defeat Grosjean today. Take Tursunov minus the games in here.
