I'm on Dickey -- he gets it done today!

The question now is how much of my retirement fund do I put on Jake Superman Arrieta?

I can't believe Texas started Holland he has been horrible for the last month or more, and he got lit up early and often as expected. Dickey has been quite good lately although there is always a chance for a really bad one out of him. They warmed Price up to relieve last night so that kind of pushed him back to game 5. As much of a playoff choker as Price has been I feel better with Dickey starting than him. I went heavy on the Blue Jays today, and I won't tomorrow.

Jays are bringing Price in to relieve today, very interesting. Looks like Stroman starts game 5.

One pitch to get Choo out, good move by Gibbons Choo and Beltre were a combined 4-4 vs Dickey and now Price can relieve tomorrow too.

pitching and defense help get you to the playoffs, they don't have as many hot and cold streaks as hitting

but hitting can surely WIN you the playoffs if you are hot enough

Can the Cardinals and Dodgers both win tonight to give us a Game 5 in all of the divisional series?

Harvey, Arrieta and Dickey were the best pitchers in those matchups, I liked McCullers a bit more than Ventura but it was pretty close.

Lackey is better than Hammel but the Cubs are better hitters, I want to take the Cubs but I'm not sure Hammel can keep them in it.

Word! That's a major reason why this postseason has been so entertaining, yet very unpredictable...

What do you all think about the 2-2-1 Best-of-5 format?

I could be wrong, but wasn't it a 2-3 format several years ago?

I don't remember a 2-3 series. 2-2-1 is really the only way to go.

During the time that the League Championship Series was best-of-five, a "2-3" format was used, with one team hosting the first two games, the other the last three (these respective roles alternating between the Eastern and Western Division champions regardless of which one finished with the better regular-season record). This procedure was repeated at first when the best-of-five Division Series was added in 1995 (except that two of each league's now three division winners hosted three games and the wild card could never do so), but starting in 1998 the home-field advantage was awarded to the two division winners in each league that had the best records; also in 1998, the "2-2-1" format was instituted, the team with the home-field advantage being given the first, second and fifth games at home instead of the third, fourth and fifth. For the 2012 postseason, the Division Series reverted to "2-3".

    I don't recall a 2-3 format either

I don't think they'd want to give the team with homefield advantage a chance at being in a 0-2 hole after the first two games and have zero home games to that point

I'm torn between the 2-2-1-1-1 and the 2-3-2.

The travel definitely plays a factor, especially if it's an east coast team and a west coast team.

Thinking it over, I prefer the 2-2-1-1-1...

deGrom and Greinke tomorrow night could very well be an instant classic.

I'm really looking forward to that one. Does anyone dare take the Over? I might?

I also like the Mets to win and advance!

O/U is 6 Hard to get that one over unless Greinke implodes and that is hard to imagine. I am rolling with my Mets. deGrom can pitch with anyone and the Mets are better hitters at this point than the Dodgers.

This could be a pitching classic. The Tex/Tor game today was a classic in a different way, but if you saw it you will never forget it.

Don't think I'd touch the O/U. Might have to throw something on deGrom at plus money, he is nastier than Greinke and as EM says, I'll take those bats overall. But really who knows, could be a classic.

Sadly, I missed the craziness in Toronto today. Can't believe what I'm hearing!

That 7th inning was insane today, catcher throwing back to pitcher hits batters bat and run scores from third, 3 straight errors and a seeing eye bloop followed by a Bautista BOMB in the bottom half. and a catcher getting taken out by a clean hard slide.
