Someone tell me why fresno won't cover against smu. I have them winning by 20. They have new coach who wants to show off for alumni and the score a lot but still play defense. Tell me not to over analyze this.

Fresno feels like they're getting disrespected here, getting matched up with a weak opponent and not playing in the bowl they wanted. Carr has committed to coming back in 2013 for his senior year and will want to make sure he makes an impression. DeRuyter is also very ambitious and this game offers a huge opportunity to cement his reputation as a good head coach after a successful year. Everything about this game says Fresno will go for the knockout early.

SMU weak in pass defense, but that's Fresno's strength. Even if they come motivated to play, Fresno should overpower them early and once down, I expect them to quit.

Handicapping the matchup works better though. It was a minor miracle that the Mustangs made it to a bowl game at all. Anyone predicting a close one here probably doesn't have an opinion I respect.

I hit fresno for a grand. Didn't want to wait until game got close. I'm afraid points go up to 14. On fence on over still. Don't know if smu can score enough to help out. I see fresno putting up 40 but can smu put up 20? Anyone with insight let me know. Thx.

another factor in this game....Fresno ST is used to making the trip to hawaii and whooping Hawaii every year. Fresno ST more familiar with the area with less travel than SMU who is travelling farther than Fresno ST

Agreed with everything said here. I'm Fresno st. Alum watch every game. Fresno should out match a shitty SMU team, but there's one thing that bothers me about this game. It's a classic letdown spot for Fresno state here.

You all say SMU is a joke but u forget they beat Tulsa (conf champs)by 8 and Fresno lost to the same team by 1. Makes you rethink going heavy on Fresno which I was going to do. More likely to go +12 parlayed with Fresno ML

I'm pretty sure tulsa has nothing to play for as they knew the next week they would get ucf again for the championship.

I'm like SMU.

SMU isn't going to be confused with being a great team anytime soon, but they did manage to play TCU tight, and SMU did manage to beat Tulsa.

The catch with SMU is they play ugly on the road.

Here's the catch. June Jones is going home. I think it's going to be good for Jones to be heading back to Hawaii where he enjoyed so much success.

I just like the 12 here.

That is a lot of points to lay. Smu can turn it on at anytime. How good is the Fresno pass defense. Tread lightly on this one

I think it is way more likely that Fresno blows out a bad SMU road team than SMU keeping it close. I would have to give more thought if SMU were getting 18. I am playing the better team in this spot.

There's alot of reasons...June jones comin back home, lack of Fresno motivation, smu beat Tulsa Fresno lost to them, Fresno bad against the run, smu stuck within 8 of tcu when they had pachall, etc

They beat a Tulsa team that forgot they were playing football until they found themselves down 5 touchdowns. Then they battle all the way back. Don't get me wrong, I think Fresno had 2 defensive scores against Tulsa and still couldn't get over. I'm just looking at a strong passing game and a weaker pass defense. But, I'm not betting the house. I think Fresno wins big but there's a lot of people taking 12 that disagree!

I'm throwing a nickel on SMU but curious if anyone thinks the line will move up or down. I got 11.5 right now and am fine with that but if it goes up I don't wanna jump on it too early.
