I'm hearing the high fees are because of these Ordinals. Hoping this trend passes soon and we can send transactions with a fee of 2-10 cents (even if it has to confirm in the middle of the night) again

Im hearing that bitcoin is a garbage product that is too expensive and slow. It won't even exist in a few more weeks. Seriously why would anybody use bitcoin? Its faster and cheaper to send a check in the mail than it is to transfer bitcoin.

okay Miker now we are talking. you are talking about utility and functionality and convenience, instead of just throwing around statements about it dropping to .01 in a week, etc, etc.

do you see this as the main issue with BTC or do you believe the volatility and any other reasons are bigger than the convenience and speed aspect?

If anyone is interested in AMZ. Presale ends soon... But my BTC transfer seems like it's stuck. Sigh

Should've done this long time ago before the bullshit.

Why do you guys keep responding to Mike78?

The guy is barely even trying and you all line up to walk right into his trap over and over again.

His effort to results ratio is exponentially in his favor. He's on autopilot yet gets boatloads of replies.

You're all getting clowned by a glorified bot.

that was my first reply to him in ages. he actually stopped the thread crapping and tried to make a cogent point about why BTC is not to be trusted LT as an investment.

Ok. I was exaggerating a little with the snail mail comment. But now the old money transfer options used for books are a cheaper and quicker option to get money in and out of books. Bitcoin was supposed to replace all those methods but now its worse. And also my latest numbers are in and they are showing bitcoin to go down to about 37 cents by Friday morning.

    "bitcoin was supposed to..."

    1) Be anonymous
    2) Replace cr cards
    3) Used for everyday transactions
    4) etc etc

Oh yeah, says who? When did they say that was SUPPOSED to be what it was designed for?

And you saying it, or reading some other clown saying it, doesn't count.

And more important, it hasn't been any of those things for the first 13 years of it's existence but you think it's a problem now!? You're bereft of logic as well as knowledge if you are saying these things are some sort of problem.

Regulation or global disaster is the biggest risk to value, and regulators can't stop it long term anyway. There is a big world outside the US govt officials.

Great post, Opti. Makes one think.

If you zoom out, I think Bitcoin is doing fine. The volatility scares some off, which can leave it in (mostly) strong hands.

The adoption curve is key. And I only see that going higher.

he talked about it expensive, slow, and mentioned transferring.

he is at least saying things about its utility.

I'd like that if didn't need to cash some. 23k was my stop for buying and I still think that's a good buy level.

i would respectfully disagree, at this point i don't think any price is a good buy level... i was bullish until these fees/wait times totally went nutso... a store of wealth is only a good store of wealth if it's quickly, easily, and readily exchangeable without pissing you off too much lol

i'm still holding a bunch of btc/eth/etc but no way would i be buying more

i get that, but it's also a product based solely on faith/trust in the system... some of that faith and trust is permanently gone, heck look at the other thread, peavy has a sportsbook transaction sitting unconfirmed for a week

Kill the Taproot soft fork does the job. Soon LN and other layer 2s with speed things up and keep down the fees. Ordinals are killing BTC and they should just get rid of them. There are over 5m inscriptions.

To prevent a similar recurrence in the future, our fees have been adjusted. We will continue to monitor on-chain activity and adjust accordingly if needed. Our team has also been working on enabling BTC Lightning Network withdrawals, which will help in such situations.
