Thats a part of the game. In the other guys hitting streaks, Im sure they got the same type of breaks.
that was a cheap hit, and should have been called a fielders choice.

It took a miracle for Utley to extend this streak. Cheapass hit. It took 5 AB's today for him as well. Streak ends
before Saturday.

Both hits are routine outs against a team that decides to play defense.
Now tied (with 4 others) for the 14th longest hitting streak in MLB history...A hit tonight and he will hold the 11th longest streak, tied with a few other guys including Ty Cobb (One of Cobb's streaks, anyway).
I know that, and I agree about the bad defense on those
plays. Well the streak has a couple of days left to it,
this fiasco should of been over already, but horrendous
defense got in the way.

Marquis is the one who messed up the Rollins streak
I didn't see the second hit in the ninth inning (went to cash my winning ticket on the Phillies) but his fifth AB (which looked to be his last AB) could have been scored many different ways -- fielder's choice, error, or hit. Personally, if the pitcher would have turned immediately and made a good throw, Utley would have been out. But when he hesitated, it gave Utley just enough time to beat out even a good throw. I think it was scored correctly. I am glad he got another hit or there would have been a little controversy.
The real thing to gleem from that game is that day after day the Cardinals are favorites and day after day they fail to deliver. Last night, they were small dogs despite Myers being a much better pitcher. There was great value in betting Philadelphia and I expect that fading the Cardinals for the remainder of the season will provide a nice payout.
He's a likable guy imo...

Well, if he gets a hit tomorrow, he breaks into the "Top Ten" in terms of longest streaks ever. That would tie him with Billy Hamilton in the tenth slot, who hit in 36 straight games 112 years ago...

Chase Utley is 0 for 4, and will be leading off the top of the 9th. Unless extra innings is looming (Which is a possibility, as it's a 1 run game currently) this will nonetheless probably be his last opportunity to extend his very impressive streak...

I might have to start up this thread again, Willy Taveras is up to a 29 game hitting streak. That came out of no where, because I dont think he was starting early in the season.

Well Willy made it 30 games straight. Can he beat Utley's 35 games for this year? He has speed on his side, so he can beat out those infield hits.

This streak isn't getting the attention like Utley's streak. I just now found out today his streak was 30. For what it's worth, I to hope he breaks Utley's benchmark for the season.
Yeah, I didnt know until last night when I heard something about a 29 game streak. Ask the wife, who did they say? She didnt hear, so I had to go find out.
Why all the hate for Utley? Or just want to see another long streak continue?
I personally just wanna see another long streak. Also, it's good to see an Astro constantly making contact with the ball this year.
