Leave your Lleyton Hewitt tributes here!

I'm grateful i don't have to maybe think about betting on him

many people pled would love to have had his career. That said he probably could have retired a year or two ago or so.
Well done on a great career, enjoy retirement mate!

Not somebody I was rooting for. Obviously a great competitor, but absolutely annoying to watch.

Had a really great career that was personified by his fighting spirit. Maybe annoying to some but he always left it all out there on the court

They've been showing matches from his 05 run to the final and I think the thing that's taken the biggest nosedive since those days were his serve.
It made me even think to myself his serve was actually ok for a top player!
Either that or he has shrunk a few inches to the point where it looks like it just clears the net hah.
He definately had a bit better coverage of it back in the day.
His feet have def slowed down a step since then but that's to be expected when you spend a few years playing with no cartilage in your toe and you need a robo toe to replace it

Maybe these days there are just more excellent returners, like Djoker, Nishikori. Back in the day, only Agassi and maybe Kafelnikov were considered to be good returners, and Hewitt did not have to play them in their prime.

Yeh the return game has always been an underrated part of tennis where guys like Djoker are at you at every point. I think last year the stats said Ferrer had the best return game but obviously very average on the offensive side of things.

Als reading Agassis book for anyone that has, it explains exactly why he was a good returner. Man no wonder he hated tennis as he claims
