Somebody should tell her the truth: she's not champions material, it's just a hype. someone from her inner circle should break it to her so she could feel less pressure

Chicks come and go quickly in the WTA. She will be one of them. She can always be Mrs. Dudley Do-right

Bouchard is going to be a Top 5 player for 5-6 years easily fellas. You guys are blind if you don't think she's more than just a pretty face. She's only 20. If she harnesses her power as she matures, there will not be many ladies who match what she brings. Health will be a question certainly. She's been banged up with leg problems since Wimbledon, so she'll need to manager herself better for a full year as her career goes. She is not a flash in the pan. You don't run deep in Slams like she has this year on all-surfaces and not have some game.

She doesn't have mental toughness, concentration or intelligence on the court. she has terrible movement and defense, only time she moves is actually to throw that big flat forehand which occasionally fails her. That hasn't changed in the last 3 years, what makes you think it'll change in the next 3 years? Shot placement and movement has become more critical than pure power (how do you think Halep broke to top 10?) yet every north american player who hits a bit hard is hyped as next Serena and people get overexcited all of a sudden. Serena days are soon over folks, get over it. N.American tennis academies really need to change their perspective of tennis in order to keep up with next gen of players.

There are better players coming up from ITF ranks, and prettier ones too.

I think Bouchard will be a force for years to come, if she stays healthy.

I don't see where you get the overhyped from? She's ranked 8th. She's made two Slam semis and a Final this year ... that seems pretty much the antithesis of overhyped.

No need to criticize Genie here. Even the most fit players have been getting drained by the heat/humidity.

Not critisizing, Makarova to beat Bouchard was "expected" though I took a shot and placed small stake for her comeback in the first. Because Makarova can actually place shots, play defense, move around the court and make intelligent winners to a limit where Bouchard can not. Even Makarova understands tennis better than Bouchard does.

even cibulkova made it to slam finals, does that make her a good player? every dog has its day eventually when the planet alignments are right. You guys consider those as proof and recent performances as hiccups where it could be (and in my belief it is) exactly the other way around. what makes a champion is talent, consistency and mental strength and she has none of those

That comment was directed at the whole "get up and play baby" thing.

Making one Slam semi makes you someone to watch to see if you can follow up and become a prime-time player. Making three semis or better in a single year is not an anomaly like Cibulkova. Again IMO, you don't make the semis of multiple Slams if you're not a really good player. I'm not saying she's a complete player, but neither is/was Serena or Sharapova or Azarenka. Doesn't mean you're not a player for Slam titles now and in the future. Especially on the WTA tour, if you have power and can serve at a plus level - you have an adantage even if your ground strokes and defense might be average.

Genie obviously has areas to work on but otherwise she's definitely top crust
for years to come. She's not even legal drinking age yet.
That should put her over the edge knowing French Canadiens.
