    7-24 Plays

Talk to me about these plays and if you disagree please state why.

    Viktor Troicki -170
    v Andrey Golubev = winner

Troicki is clearly the more talented player. With his suspension ending I believe he will be looking to make up for lost time and appeared to be in decent form in his 1st match back beating Thiem who has been playing well.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Albert Montanes +3½ -105 v Fabio Fognini = loser 6-7 0-6

Have not seen many upsets lately so looking for a few on Thursday. Montanes had an efficient 2 set win over Zverev while Fognini has lost two matches in a row. Montanes holds a 4-2 career H2H record but those matches were long ago and probably not all too relevant.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Joao Sousa -120 v Teymuraz Gabashvili = = loser

Not a whole lot of separation between the two players and Sousa is riding a two match losing streak but this year Sousa has generally won the matches he was favored in. Going with the Spaniard that has trained on red clay his whole life.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Challenger plays:

Yuichi Sugita -190 v Ruben Bemelmans = loser
Alexander Kudryavtsev -210 v Egor Gerasimov = loser

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Horacio Zeballos -175 v Borna Coric = loser

Going with the veteran player vs the young up-and-coming 17 year old playing in front of his hometown fans. Hopefully he doesn't channel his inner Zverev.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Benjamin Becker +145* vs Yen-Hsun Lu

I'm taking Becker. Just letting everyone know for fading purposes. Won with Lu but wasn't overly impressed. Had lots of break point saves.

I'm on Golbuv a half unit cause other dudes been away from tennis so long. I usually lose these bets but im stubborn

foggy- never know whos gonna show up. I'd play money line. If foggy wants to be there he will win. If not he will lose

Sousa is probably a good bet. Gaba getting big credit for getting a win in his price. I wouldn't bet it though. If gaba on he could give sousa many problems.

If they get it in between rain showers, Troicki match has blood bath potential as the World is on Troicki. I don't necessarily like Golubev, but I can see Troicki not matching the level he had in his opener. He put a year of frustration into that match .... be interested to see if he comes out too loose now.

Golubev is a pretty average clay player to be honest, if Troicki wanna prove to the world that he could still do it, this is the match that he mustn't tank.

Fognini is arguably the most unpredictable guy in the current state of tennis, always tanks when people predict him to win, always wins when people predict him to tank. I would stay away from his match, current Montanes ain't too reliable anyway.

Troicki I think will still be a winner today. Saw him with interest in his first match and he was ok. Golubev is steadily dropping his form as this clay court tour moves to it's ending. But this can be a lengthy match so over is also a good thought.

Fabio indeed is so untrusty these days, but he has to defend some points as last year he was cruising through these tourns. So another disastrous performance (like one vs Kranijovic) is unlikely to happen. Still with all the untrust i think he will win this one.

Joao Sousa maybe has trained all his life on clay, but he sure does not feel comfortable on clay as he is on hard courts.
And Teymuraz is streaky, meaning if he starts winning he can go far with winning. So Im going opposite here with Teymu

Zeballos was up a break and then lost that and the set 6-7.

Sousa was up a set and a break and lost that and the 2nd set 6-4.

    Dammit.

    Zeballos sucks. Unforced error machine.

Coric channeled his inner Zverev (even wearing the same damn shit) and controlled all the points against Zeballos' shitty groundstrokes.

    Note to self: Fade Zeballos

This Yuichi Sugita v Ruben Bemelmans match is AWFUL.

I literally don't think Sugita has one single winner in the two sets I've watched.

He doesn't even get service winners.

    UPDATE: Yuichi Sugita -190 v Ruben Bemelmans = Loser 6-7 6-4 4-6

Montanes loses the first set 7-6 after being up a break and having a zillion break points and now could give two shits about being on the court.

Broken twice with no resistance in the 2nd set already.

What a total bitch down 4-0 and has won about 3 points this set.

    5-0 broken again.

Montanes absolutely QUIT it seems like, wow... Thought he would take the first set, but breaker isn't too bad bec he serves first second set. But it is a fukking disgrace how these ATP pros just fukking quit while they are down, it is laughable... Ask Sousa, he did the same stuff today.. SO many quitters and chokers at the ATP level.. Makes you laugh at times... The best of the best in the world can also be the biggest quitters, it's kind of sickening...

He plays the first very very well, then just gives up. Sorry for that loss, Montanes will get bageled and not even care, what a quitter...

it's tough but you kind of had a feeling some favorites would go down after smooth sailing the last couple days. we still got atlanta to make up for it.

    Need a winner.

    Thoughts on:

Kevin Anderson -450 v Thiemo De Bakker

Is there any chance Anderson doesn't pound Bakker?

it's always tough to tell what a big name is gonna do after a short time off from a major (especially at a 250)... that being said i think kev anderson should roll past this guy if he's motivated. i'm not on this match though, i'm on matosevic/isner parlay

On the surface Matosevic should win easily but Smyczek will be a very tough out tonight. Center court, big crowd, night match and Smyczek all but clinches direct acceptance with a win tonight. He made the second round of the Open last year where he had that tough 5 setter against Granollers. Those 90 points are very important to him.

Matosevic is playing only his second hard court match is ages and his second match in nearly a month while Smyzcek has been playing the US challenger circuit. Unless you think Matosevic is a real gamer and will go to war tonight I'd tread lightly.
