Even though hardcourts are not Monaco's preferred surface, I still believe he has a good chance of beating Dolgopolov today. Dolgo is in a terrible rut right now form wise. In his last 8 matches, he's only 2-6 and even worse, 3 of those losses came from very weak players like Devvarman, Bedene, and Harrison. I got a chance to watch the Dolgo/Gimeno match yesterday and even though Dolgo won, he did not look good at all. He's lost pace on his groundstrokes and his serve is below par. He's still the impatient Dolgo and cannot construct meaningful points. Who was once a top twenty caliber player, I think Dolgo has had his best days behind him and we'll start to see him fade into oblivion in his rankings in the coming years. It seems like the motivation is just not there anymore and it's clearly affecting his game.
Monaco still has patience in his game and I think he will frustrate Dolgopolov today into a ton of unforced errors.
Best of Luck
