He had the fastest serve in history in challengers but it doesnt count towards record. People are freaking out over his serve, so I'm def gonna watch some of that match to see how wet this guys serve is

Buddy bet $3600 to win $680 or something on Fish and just don't get why he would do that against a player he doesn't know about...not gonna share with him what you guys just said about his serve

As long as Fish isn't in Marseille just for a nice post Davis Cup vacation, he'll beat this guy. There's a difference between bashing through qualis and Bachinger vs. a guy like Fish. That being said, would not be surprised if a set was close or even if the guy takes a set considering this is Fish's first match here.

Does Fish have a big incentive in terms of rankings/prize money etc to win ? Don't really follow the sport too close except for the big tourneys.

Classic case of betting based on ranking.

Your friend has lost his money, I actually played the over thinking we would at least see a TB, but it looks like fish is getting rolled, he can't touch his serve, up a break in the 2nd - don't see him getting broken back.

I don't know if you can call this kid a "real deal" ... he's on home soil playing someone who hasn't played on this surface yet and really hasn't played well this year. And he's about to lose this 2nd set and probably the match. Double fault machine so far.

Funny thing is, is that if Fish wins the third and the match, my buddy who isn't even watching it because he's working will have no clue how fuckin' close this was and how good this young dude is! Rooting for my boy to not lose his ass! Let's go Fishy!

Plenty of guys have a power serve and nothing else, doesn't mean you'll amount to anything. As said previously, it means you can keep matches tight on quick surfaces like this - but your margin for error is literally zero. You can rattle off a couple handfuls of guys who are in the same category. Problem with these guys is they lose their legs in longer matches and their serve can disappear late if they spend too much energy throughout a tournament.

It was a good situational bet for sure with Fish coming in for his first match and Olivetti having played several matches already.

new goat serve, record will be broken no doubt once he gets a few matches on the tour, obviously ground game is horrible, almost to point where you think he's just been practicing serving for 20 years. Net game also leaves a lot to be desired for someone of his size, I guess he will improve with time, still young.
