What was the story with the "Pinny Blaster" controversy from a year or so ago? All of the NCAAB overnight totals were manipulated and bought back a huge profit, supposedly.

This happened. Story is that the kid is a nut job and a hacker. Basically tried to extort guys(krackman was one guy who was extorted). Books know who he is and I doubt anyone is going anywhere near this kid anymore. Certainly a lesson learned. But just goes to show that pinny is 100% on auto pilot at certain times. Maybe not anymore after this incident.

IMO, the interviewer did nothing but awkwardly repeat every little thing the trader said, which led to a cycle of needless repetition on both ends... Not a single legitimate follow-up question. Obvious ones would include: what are your target hold percentages? what kind of size/pattern might make you nervous you are unware of some news? what sources do you use for news/information? do you look at what the lines are doing at other books? do you accept any action from other books? Love the concept of the interview; just needs to be executed much better.

whats interesting is how many posters consider the interviews insightful when the guy basically said little more than common sense. Simple question would clear alot of debate, does pinny trade. Certainly their soccer moves suggest they do.

Here's a question you should ask: Why doesn't pinnacle invest into more servers? It's annoying that during big time events - like Champions League today - the servers are simply unreachable. Buy some extra servers please! Or anticipate. Not to mention, that the servers crap out minutes before start of Premier League games regularly every week.

I certainly agree with the main thrust of what you say Nicky but your conclusion is dead-set wrong.

There is more than one way to win at this game. Yours obviously suits you but it's not for everyone.

I play very differently and whist basic arithmetic is most certainly a big part of determining value and staking in my betting it isn't everything. It isn't necessary to predict the outcome of every game. You just need to be reasonably accurate in determining the likelihood of each outcome.

What Nicky says is true for most mature markets, but even Pinny has some weak opening lines sometimes.
It is possible to beat these openers more often than not if you are good with a certain sport, that is why the limits are lower here for early lines obviously.

I agree with the gist of your post; I hardly ever watch any of the leagues I bet on (hell, a lot of them I couldn't watch if I wanted to). My plays are 100% mathematics, yet I consider myself a handicapper. How do you define 'handicapping'? Anything other than steam/shaded lines/arbs/BS teasers, etc.?

You do not have to convince me. He reiterated that in the 4th video also. I agree, no company would want to go out of business when there is easy money to be made just providing a market. But then there are people who still do not believe Obama was born in Hawaii. They might pick a side on maybe 10 percent of their book at most(who gives a rats *ss), but the other 90 percent is pure fixed income.
