Cashing a check from an offshore at a check-cashing location

anyone ever done this? has it gone smoothly? Id much rather get a check from Bet JM, and cash it than to pay the outrageous ** and ** fees.

for the record (I bank at a small time bank and know everyone there personally. I know what Im doing is not illegal, but Id rather avoid the awkwardness/explaining if Im depositing a 2k check from some obscure bank) Id much rather pay the 2 or 3 percent at a check cashing place...get the cash and be done with it.

Yes, I have done it in the past with Carib checks and another book. They always asked where they are from and I was honest with them. They told me they had similiar sportsbook check bounce. I think one was from BoDog.

Here's the thing, a lot of the checks that the reputable off shore book use are international, they are good, but not domestic, and most cash checking places don't want any part of non domestic checks.

These checks have a high likelihood of bouncing.

Would you rather explain where the check is from to the people you know at your small bank or to the police?

most check cashing places, will call the bank the check is drawn on the confirm that the check is good and then cash it for you.

I usually try to spread my deposits around multiple branches. You can say it's an escrow payment from an online auction if you want to steer clear of the whole gambling thing.

Depending on the bank there can be holds of one week to one month.

I guess I'm lucky, never had a check from an online operator bounce.

If your bank has a drive-through, you can use that if you don't want to talk to anyone. They are not likely to question you over the speaker system, especially if you are there at 4:55 and the bank drive-through closes at 5:00

most cash checking places will charge you 10-13 percent because of the type of check. the 3 percent is for payroll. Also please know that if the check bounces there at the check cashing store, they come after you not the sportsbook and if you dont pay back they will press criminal charges against you. Its hard to explain that your sportsbook had processer issues and thats the reason it bounced to them or a judge

ok "bud" the place I send MGs is where I would cash the check, and the owner told me it would be between 2 and 3 percent.

I wasnt asking what peoples opinions were on the percentage I would have to pay. I was asking if anyone had done it before

    ok there "bud"?

the owner is prolly assuming u meant a legit work check from a local company.. I highly doubt he knows u are bringing in an illegal sports betting OVERSEAS international check and trying to cash it for 2-3% ... if he does then cash the darn thing and no need to post this thread.....

I tried walmart but they stated they only cash "payroll" checks. I usually pay 7-8% when using a check cashing outlet.

lol WHAT???? how is online poker PAYOUTS not illegal?? why do u think there has been so much legislation trying to figure out how to tax this and if or not it can be taxed... right now it is definitely ILLEGAL and that is why banks get in severe trouble for helping fund poker sites.. cashing them out is the same story...hence why fulltilt for example is having severe processing issues and people are behind months on checks payouts.... can u get a stop n save check cashing place to do it?? sure.. but telling them its for gambling was quite brainless. .. the Wrong place could easily deny it SOLEY based on this.. and/or confiscate the check (farther fetched but happens)... with that being said sure u could stop payment via betjm and try a diff route.. back to square one.

my serious recommendation.....if ur really afraid to deposit the check to a clerk directly... just deposit the damn thing through ur atm envelope deposit.. over the weekend.. come tuesday morning u will have it available for withdrawal

if it is your first time getting a check from a processor , i have found they always call the sending bank to see if the funds are available, the place i have been to always calls the other bank, it takes a little longer but then they will always cash them
