    Bodog sux

Unbelievable Bodog is rated A!?! I begin to doubt the SBR rating system...
They limited my account to 3 GBP/bet and put a bonus in my account of 10 GBP then blocked my withdrawal request because I didn't meet the wagering requirements
with this limit per bet it will take me some time to meet the rollover even for 10 GBP.

I just wonder how come sportsbooks like this are rated A. I just cannot believe it, they should have the bwin rating as they also limit accounts fast if someone 'dares' to win.

For non-US players, Bodog is not the best fit.

Bodog is a great out for US players; they're financially secure (as demonstrated by exercising proper risk mgt.), have a clean user friendly software, and there are no outstanding payment complaints.

so your rating system is targeting US players only?? Then a bit of advise for Europeans, just use Europe based bookies and don't mind SBR ratings....
Bodog.co.uk is actually based in some Caribbean Island so avoid...you people from EU

What I would suggest is looking at the recommended list for European players; you'll notice Bodog is absent from that list. Click on European Sports when at the page in the bottom right.

Bodog is what it is, to coin a cheesy cliche. They are like McDonald's; they are everywhere, reliable, and probably not going anywhere anytime soon. They lack a lot of the perks and bonuses of their peer sites and games are sometimes mysteriously off-the-board.

To me, they are a solid book to have in your collection. Play to their strengths. Personally, I like their poker software.

anyway I don't call bookies that set betting limits almost to zero that are 'exercising proper risk mgt.'...and grade them an A.
maybe if they placed an ad on my in-existent site, if you get my drift Lou.

Bodog offers dual lines. That means that if you are European, you will not get the same lines with the American bettors. The bet limits are ok, but once they spot you, you will be severely limited, and you will not be able even to finish the roll over requirements of the initial bonus. This is a very aggressive behavior towards arbers. Unless there is a very specific reason, I wouldnʼt play there.

Just to clarify, Bodog Europe, the company which owns and operates the European facing bodog.co.uk, is located and licensed in Antigua, a very legitimate jurisdiction. Details below:

Antigua was the first sovereign nation to license online gaming (1994), and since its inception the Directorate of Gaming has continued to refine and implement stringent licensing and monitoring best practices, becoming a model that has been subsequently emulated by licensing jurisdictions worldwide. In Antigua, eGaming is overseen by the Directorate of Offshore Gaming, a branch of the Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC), and all eGaming licensees are subject to the same rigorous compliance requirements as apply to financial institutions. Such controls include strict Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Financing of Terrrorists, and “Know Your Client” protocols, and compliance is validated by ongoing external audits.

Even the US State Department, whose hostile stance to online gaming is well-known (notwithstanding the World Trade Organization ruling) commended Antigua in a 2008 Narcotics Control Strategy Report, noting that Antigua does an excellent job regulating internet casinos, describing the Antiguan Directorate of Offshore Gaming as a "world leader" in dealing with AML issues in the gaming industry. The same report went on to highlight that Antigua’s framework has served as a model for licensing jurisdictions that followed, including the Isle of Man.

Antigua’s Directorate of Offshore Gaming, was subjected to intense audit and review by the United Kingdom, and was subsequently designated and recognized by the UK’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport as a trusted, highly-regulated, “white listed” jurisdiction effective Nov. 3, 2008, enabling Antiguan-licensed operators to freely advertise to and access the UK market.

    Thank you,
    Becky

Yeah right. What's "user friendly" about dealing dual lines, including a public set of lines that literally nobody gets, and lengthy delays where they use their bettors to move their prop lines because they're too lazy to set their own prop lines. Not to mention that they lie about the dual lines and the delays, claiming "Lines are moving all of the time."

    This.

As I said in my earlier post, they are what they are and that is an extremely reliable spot. I've been told by some people that this is not the case but it is has never been reflected in my transactions with them. Could the lines and selections be better? Perhaps. However, that is why you have multiple books.

IMO, if a book flat out lies to its customers about the dual lines, delays, etc, how are you supposed to know they won't lie about others things? There are ways to be a legitimate recreational book, but flat out lying isn't one of them.

Bodog has got to be the worst book I have ever used. When I first statred gambling I made the rookie mistake of betting with bodog. There lines are always juiced up like crazy, there overnight lines are late as hell, and sometimes they dont post all the games that all the other books have up.They put there moneylines up super late as well.

Don't get me wrong, I am not doubting you. It is just that I have never experienced any of these things but, to be fair, I am a combination of oblivious and a small player ($50 a unit). That said, as soon as I either withdraw or bottom out, I will be moving on to Matchbook as one of my three spots.

    Leash Tightening Around Bodog?

William P. Barrett, 02.19.09, 11:47 AM EST Judge orders $10 million forfeited to government in Web gambling-site case.

A federal judge has ordered the forfeiture of nearly $10 million of bank account money linked to Bodog, the once-dominant but illegal under U.S. law Internet gambling site, amid indications authorities are making headway in building a criminal case.

U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake in Baltimore signed an order earlier this month allowing the federal government to keep $9.67 million of the $9.87 million it seized from Nevada bank accounts last July. The order said the other $200,000 would be returned to Edward Courdy, whose ZipPayments credit card processing company owned the bank accounts.

What makes this unusual is that Courdy and another man, Michael Garone, still face federal criminal money-laundering charges brought in September. These charges were started not by a formal grand jury indictment but by the simple filing of papers by the same prosecutors seeking the forfeiture. This is often an indication of an impending plea bargain, since felony charges normally cannot be pursued without an indictment.

Moreover, Blake's order contains a secret schedule of when that $200,000 is to be returned. In addition, the feds have made no apparent move to force Courdy or Garone to appear in court and plead or post bail, which hints that they might be cooperating with authorities.

Courdy's lawyer, Stanley I. Greenberg of Los Angeles, declined detailed comment, but told Forbes the $200,000 was being returned because "it couldn't be traced to illegal activities."

Garone has no lawyer of record in the case and could not be located.
Baltimore federal prosecutors routinely flood the news media with press releases about their activities--nearly five dozen statements so far this calendar year alone, many concerning far less significant cases. But in this matter they have been mum. A spokesman did not return a call seeking comment.

I think Bodog offers an honest game of blackjack, more so than even the machines in Nevada! It's also the only site I know that you can look at at the end of the night and see what the various odds of the day were. And chill, I'm no shill, just in this for the thrill!
