    A Word About Bet Phoenix

First, let me assure you that I do not have an active account with BP. I am not here to put blame on any player, or BP. I only post this in an attempt to help those who do have an active account with BP.

It appears that a lot of complaints have to do with money disappearing from acounts. More specifically, monies lost in their casino. Aparently, someone has been able to tap into players accounts, and spend their money in the casino. Now I have no idea how this is being done. It could be an inside job, or it could be a very good hacker. The point is this. You can not expect BP to come out with a statement admitting to the problem. They may as well close up shop. That would be suicidal to them.

So how do you protect yourself from this happening to you? Here are a few steps you can take to insure your funds.

    1. Check your account frequently. I would recommend twice a day. If there are any problems with it, notify BP immediately. Ask them if anyone has signed in using your IP. Get all the times that the funds were lost, and how they were lost. Was it a wager? Was it in the casino? This is critical information.

    2. Keep track of the exact time you log in and out of your account. If funds were lost, you will be able to tell if you were logged into the account at the time when the funds were lost.

    3. If you do not play in their casino, have that option deleted from your account. This will protect you from any unauthorized play in their casino.

    4. If you have accounts at other books, use them until this mess is cleared up. You can freeze your account at BP if you so choose. Again, this will guard against any unauthorized use of your account. Make sure you note the day and time you froze your account.

    5. NEVER EVER give your IP address out in here, or anyplace else. You may as well give your credit card information out. Hackers will have a field day with this information.

    6. If you are uncertain about the stability of BP, cash out. You can always open an account once you are convinced that their internal problems have been dealt with.

    7. Keep precise records of any wager made with BP. Get the tracking number, or whatever they may call it. If possible, print out a copy of your wager. Make sure that you have all the information given to you once the wager is accepted.

Again, I am not accusing anyone, or BP of shady practices, but the fact is that we are talking about YOUR money. No matter how well you have been treated by BP, you can not ignore the fact that this COULD be an inside job. The possibility exists that BP is doing this for profit. This may, or may not be happening, and again, I emphatically state that I am not accusing them of doing this. I am just trying to make sure that you guys do not get ripped off by someone who may, or may not be associated with BP. Use extreme CAUTION until this problem is resolve. I hope this helps some of you. Good luck to all of you.

About what an IP address is for starters. I didn't bother reading beyond that considering how misinformed you are about the interwebz.

    How?
Simply contact them and tell them that you want the casino option deleted from your account. According to some who have posted in here, they can do that.

The thing about the IP address is wrong. Anyone you've ever sent an email to can figure out your IP address just by looking at the headers of your email.

And that address is completely traceable, if you have the proper equipment to do so. Once the hacker has gotten into your IP, which is basically saying th he/she has gotten into your account, they can see everything you have posted for years. That is the problem. How do you think the feds get their info? Do you think that suspects just voluntarily give it out? Basically, they can find out the users name, address, phone number, and all kinds of other information. All I am suggesting is that you use caution. The I.P issue aside, do you have any other complains about what I have suggested?

All I am trying to do is help. If you do not want it, that is your choice. When you get ripped off, don't come crying to me. I guess this is what I can expect from a bunch of amateurs who consistanly lose their tails. Nothing but crap.

I am? 20 years with law enforcement and you are telling me that I am way off base? Hundreds of hours working on Identity theft problems and you are trying to tell me how things work? Please. If you do not like what I suggested, then ignore it. That is your option. Obviously had someone followed my suggestions, they may have been helped. But that is the individuals choice. I guess this is the kind of response that I should be used to getting in here. You make a few suggestions to try and help people, and the know-it-alls come out in force.

You are skipping a ton of steps here. There is no way to "get into an IP address." Yes, you can trace it back to the ISP that owns the IP address, but you would need the cooperation of the ISP to get any further than that. The way the Feds get the info you mentioned is typically by subpoenaing the ISP that owns the IP address. If someone posts a death threat on a message board, the police would contact the message board who would give the IP address of the person making the post. It's trivially easy to find out which IP addresses are owned by which ISP, at which point they would contact the ISP to find out which user was using that IP address at that time.

None of the other advice you gave was bad but some of it is a bit overly paranoid. If I logged every time I logged into or out of an account I'd never have time to place bets. The most important point is to use good firewall and anti-virus software, use secure passwords with random letters, numbers, and symbols, and use different passwords on each site. Also, change your passwords somewhat often, probably at least every 3 months.

They can shut off casino in about 1 second when you call. It is just a click of the mouse. If they tell you the cannot, they are lying. I have worked with ASI software for many years.
