Everything looks the same as it was prior to players being migrated to WmHill after they bought the place.

I understand it's still owned by WmHill so that makes this move quite an interesting development.
Tom Waterhouse still in charge so I'm not really holding out much hope for anything too punter friendly. Time will tell.

Players need to create new accounts to play there.

from Champion Bets:

Strange happenings in bookie land this week, with retired brand Centrebet rearing its head in a somewhat bizarre return.
Centrebet, the original Australian online bookie, was bought out (along with tomwaterhouse.com) by British giant William Hill in 2013. The brand was slowly phased out before being retired outright just a few months back, with all remaining accounts transferred to the parent company.
That was until this week, when ‘Centrebet’ started contacting punters out of the blue via email and social media, informing them that they were back.
Centrebet are claiming to have a new, “no frills” approach (complete with spelling mistakes!):
• Best fixed-odds available
• No gimmicks / advertising / promotional offers
• Betting all comers to win up to $5,000 on any Australian metro racing (no mention of sports betting at this stage)

An email sent to some former members this week.

This is of course in stark contrast to the William Hill experience that Australian punters are used to: slashing of odds and account closure for any customer that shows a hint of intelligence.
With the financial performance of William Hill Australia showing the strains of this poor reputation among punters, we understand this impromptu re-launch of Centrebet is an attempt by Australian CEO Tom Waterhouse and his team to show their British bosses that they can run a bookmaking operation in the opposite manner to them – taking bets from all comers and without the gimmicks, promotions and costly advertising – and in fact make more money.
The move comes against the backdrop of a growing chorus from Australian punters for bookmakers to act (or be forced to act) in a fairer, more traditional manner, rather than the account-restrictive model that many have imported from the UK.
So something of an experiment then. The ‘new’ Centrebet has been ring-fenced from William Hill – anyone wanting to have a punt will have to open a new account, including former customers whose accounts have been transferred to William Hill.
Interesting times.
William Hill Australia could not be reached for comment yesterday.

You should check out johnflynnbookmakers.eu they offer high stakes wagering on horses. To be fair I don't know if they offer Australian horses or not as it's a new platform from BetBaller. John Flynn is the owner of both sites. Personally I don't bet the horses so I couldn't tell you if their site offers value to the horse bettor or not. However they have paid my balances in full within 5 minutes everytime (BetBaller) so I'm assuming John would do the same on the high stakes wagers on his horse platform.

No gimmick.

After a couple of weeks now this is proving to be a terrific initiative by WmHill as otherwise restricted punters now have somewhere to get more than the $2000 minimum bet rules on Victorian and NSW races and can also enjoy the same for metropolitan racing in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia where such rules are yet to be introduced.

Nice.

I guess that is why they are blocking non-Australians from the site. Sounds like a concession to get the unfair conditions by UK books lobby off their back a little.

They are offering to take bets to lose up to $10K on NBA and NFL lines and H2H (1.97 / 101.5% markets)

And similar for Big Bash H2H markets and for marquee Grand Slam tennis matches.

Brilliant news isn't it! It's a shame that most people are saying it's a gimmick or it won't last. I'm glad that someone is willing to go against the UK bookmarking mentality of banning the winners and letting the losers in for whatever they want and are giving everyone a go!

These sports markets at 101.5% for h2h and 1.97 line odds are the best odds going around and I'll gladly take them on, especially considering it's on the fairest playing field for punter vs bookmaker

They are going to end up with just about every sharp Aussie punter on the books pretty quickly.

Might be a smart move info wise for them?

101.5% is incredibly low juice - have to be dubious that can work. That's the same as sbobet offer for big football matches, and they take astronomically higher volume than centrebet ever will.
