    Advice on switching to Pinnacle

    Hi everybody,

I am a new member to SBR.
I have been doing some investigating regarding possible sportsbooks and I would like some advice from those who are more experienced.

Here is my situation - I am a small time bettor (Canadian citizen) who only bets on college football and the NFL.
    I currently use Sports Interaction.
I have had a successful year and I believe in the formula I use for picking both spreads and moneylines.

I am looking to up the ante for next years football season and will be looking to place an initial investment of 15K.
After having done some research, it doesn't look like SI is the best book for big payouts or winners.
(They have given me no problems at this point and I have no complaints about this book for small time winnings)

I was wondering if you could give me an opinion on pinnacle Sports? Do they handle large payouts well? Do they limit winners? If they do limit Winners, is there a reason given or certain betting practices they frown upon?

If anyone has a knowledgeable opinion - as in actual experience using Pinnacle - any response by either forum or PM would be most appreciated.

pinnacle is the best, never limits and payouts very fast. larger amounts can take up to 12 hours. if you continue winning at SI they will limit you so hit them hard

You'd be crazy not to have accounts and Pinnacle and Matchbook.
Frequently Matchbook will have better odds on those sports.

PJ - Im not trying to pry, but do you have experience taking out 5 digit withdraws from them?
What do you find is the best method to withdraw larger amounts from Pinnacle?

Yes, Pinnacle is the best sportsbook for payouts. I use them as my main book as I am from Canada. I have received many payments mid 4 figures in less than one hour from requesting the payout the funds always reach my online E-wallet with no issues. I did have to validate my ID by sending in my passport/drivers license and utility bill but this was not a big issue as everything got validated within a day. They only seem to have live betting for Saturday CFB for the primetime nationally televised game and only a select few NFL games on Sunday afternoon and the live lines are only up during commercial breaks, not play by play like Bet365. You won't get limited at Pinnacle.

Pinnacle is great. If you win at SIA though, much of that may come from their off-market lines. You'll find it much harder to beat Pinny's numbers than SIAs. By all means have an account there, but you might also look at 5Dimes and even Bovada.

Yes, my biggest withdrawal was 30.000€ and it was processed within 3-4 hours. Only once it took around 12 hours but that is acaptable for me. Use moneybookers or neteller to move your money if it is still allowed in Canada

You should use betfair, it's better than pinnacle.

depends on how much comission you have to pay, but forget about betting college sports at betfair and even nba has low liquidity early on.

For someone who bets only college football and NFL (the OP)? I don't think so

It's not. Pinnacle odds usually better then Betfair because of %5 BF comission. BF is better only if you're trading.

Pinnacle is a very reliable book and has reduced juice but you won't make much money there as like you did in SI. Pinnacle odds/lines are much more sharper, can't even compare with SI. Don't be surprised if you end up losing at Pinnacle.

Not easy to beat Pinnacle. This is why they don't limit players, lol. They're confident with themselves, they're confident with their lines.

If I had to chose between only having Betfair or Pinnacle I'd agree with this.

But that's because Pinnacle don't offer horse racing.

If, as the OP is, I were only betting on US sports, Pinnacle is a far better option.

Betfair just doesn't have near enough liquidity on US sports to make them a viable alternative to Pinnacle (or Matchbook).

Btw, I suggest to use Betfair in unknown, less-popular leagues since Pinnacle applies a higher juice in these kinda leagues such as Paraguay. Just witnessed an example few minute ago.

I found Libertad at 2,20 in a softbook. I will pick Sportivo Luqueno +0,50 in order to hedge my bet. Sportivo +0,50 was 1,92 at Pinnacle. In few minutes, it dropped to 1,90, then 1,88. Meanwhile Libertad was being traded at 1,91-1,92. Even when you add %5 comission, still it makes 2,03-2,04. Can you see the difference here? 2,04 and 1,91, LoL!

    But overall, Pinnacle beats Betfair..

NFL is growing, college football is still way too low. But if you get a dozen guys like the OP and suddenly these sports become more appealing to existing and even more new customers.

I mainly bet AFL, NRL, Tennis at betfair and have only recently started laying the ponies. A little bit of soccer.

Laying the ponies is starting to become a more regular thing.

Do pinnacle still make you keep placing bets like they will let you max 250, but you put it on again and again until you reach say 5000 if that's the amount you want to bet?

Every book has something that has better odds than somewhere else, I think people misjudge pinnacles odds as being consistently the best, because they are not. That is the illusion of pinnacle.

That's pretty well correct. BUT more often than not those with better odds won't take a bet from many of us or certainly not as much as Pinnacle will.

As well as the lowest overall juice, their liquidity and willingness to accept all (bar Yanks) is what makes them clearly the best bookie on this planet.

Betfair is great for tennis, soccer, horses

USA Sports..Live NFL and NBA games that are televised in the UK..very good live action

Remember Betfair is mainly a live betting exchange..not a ton of money pre game other than big soccer leagues and some tennis

I'd rather just request better odds than pinnacle at betfair and get it matched. Not that every bet is like that and more than 50% of the time I already get better odds at betfair than pinnacle. I'm becoming bias.

you think a dozen guys would make a difference? at such a big operation like betfair? I don't think it would.

Check out the in-play volume compared to the pre-match one.

Also I think lot of the pre-match volume is probably trading and hedging, not actual straight betting.

No, but if they were decent size bettors, maybe.

I'm well aware of it, i just don't like having to make the phone call to place a live bet, a downfall to this country that law

Yes, that is a surprisingly overlooked benefit of exchanges by many. And I do that at Betfair and Matchbook when I want a better price than is currently available. And I do indeed get matched frequently.

But when I expect a price isn't going to hold up I'm not going to hang about waiting and hoping. I want the best odds going. When it comes to US sports that is more likely to be at Matchbook and Pinnacle than anywhere else, including Betfair.

Actually to a point I agree with dink.

Apart from baseball I really have no time for US sports in themselves.

I dread the day we follow their stupidity in introducing "time outs" to our sports, dragging out the final 2 minutes for half an hour.

But betting on them is quite different to having to like them. And the way it is with Australian "bookmakers" not allowing us to bet on our own sports, US sports offer a real opportunity to have a decent bet with the likes of Pinnacle and Matchbook.

It's not even December and I already miss baseball. Good to have NHL every day though.

I did not know that part about Australian bookmakers. Quite interesting.
