This is not an easy post to make but I feel it is the least I can do for players and to the forum community.

It has been weeks since I left my position as the GM for Betislands and after reading what the situation is right now I would like to provide clarification , since I was the one who talked up Betislands and believed in it more than anyone else did .During my time at Betislands I can sincerly say I always did my best for every single client always trying to get players paid and most of the time siding with the players. And for almost 2 years those things were accomplished.

The financial backing pulled out unexpectedly this is a verifiable fact from SBR and anyone in the sportsbook industry in Costa Rica. I am not the banker nor the money behind Betislands I was the General Manager in several aspects of the company including Public Relations but I was not the founding $$ nor the bank ( another fact that is easily verified )and for the most part we came through with our promises solid payouts , good CS and good bonuses. When everyone was getting the good stuff we were a top book of course.

After expressing my desire to leave for several months I left the company and retired from the post up scenario.

I am sure this post will not change the frustration and anger that some of you feel , and of course you associate your feelings towards the forum face of the sportsbook but I felt this post on my behalf was necessary.

I wish the best for the players and I am hoping some of the larger shops that have the financial prowlness will come in and help players out for the good of the industry in general.

1. That happens all the time, bust->change name->repeat, eventually someone puts two and two together but guys just can't turn down that huge bonus.
2. It is magical thinking to believe that there is a solid understanding of the financial structure behind the large majority of books. A general idea... yes, but this isn't a regulated industry. Can't look up the shareholders on yahoo finance.
3. I know people are upset and I would be upset as well but looking at this as an outsider it seems like a novel that someone shot a lot of holes through. Things don't make sense, timelines are unclear, etc. People are making a lot of assumptions and others are taking those assumptions as fact and making assumptions off those "facts."

How do you know that when the backing pulled out BI wasn't balanced (meaning customer liability covered by deposits)? Is it the backers fault then?

Word on the street it was cash positive and had nothing to do with the Cantor Gaming/Pinny bust.

you can bet that it will blow over and another forum book will pop up, either here or another forum. Many posters from years ago aren't around anymore and they aren't chiming in on this situation. In a few years the same thing will happen again, it's a never ending cycle. Bernie Madoff and many other guys like him have scammed 100s of millions over the years and these were people they knew face to face and had personal relationships with. Also, these people were investing legally from what they thought. Many people on the forum live in the US but many of us live all over the world and some of us can bet legally. The people that got scammed were betting illegally with a book/poster/etc in Costa Rica, trust me on this, these guys known damn well they can screw you and there is nothing you can do about it. Sure, you can bash them on forums etc , but as soon as they achieve a $ figure they are comfortable with it's done and your $ is gone. They know you are not going to CR to find them let alone do anything to them. It's all talk and everyone knows this, nobody is risking their own freedom and going to do anything over the amount of $ they lost. Sure most of the good books are on the up and up but these books have always been around and will continue to be around. Play at the best books and only play with money you can not be worried about even if the big boys decode to close up shop.

Jon didn't know what was going on. The owners are the thieves and SBR covered it up as long as possible. Start blaming the right people, the owners and SBR.

Jon knew exactly what was going on because he was getting a cut from the sharp promo that was doomed to fail. Jon was in charge of seeking out the sharps to put their money in BI and he in return got a cut of . The promotion was so ridiculously stupid that the only question was whether enough sharps would jump on it in numbers large enough to bankrupt the company or if only a "few" sharps would take advantage of it and the resulting follow would mean a lot of rec(loser) players would join. Obviously, this plan failed miserably.

Jon IS a piece of sheeit. He's no different than any ponzi scammer and what BI was doing was running a ponzi scheme and it went bust quickly because they lured in the sharps who broke their azz in a hurry. SBR was simply the pimps backing the whole scam and profiting from it as long as BI stayed afloat, which even the biggest degen idiot should have known wouldn't be for long.

Jon or SBR's apologies for this ponzi scam is a complete joke. Jon knew it was a scam from the start and SBR became willingly ignorant and an accomplice to it.

They obviously ran on the credit of a big financial backer. Their financing backed out. It even happens in the states all the time in all sorts of businesses.

There's no FDIC insurance covering your deposits in off shore books. If you deposit money overseas in sportsbooks, you do so at your own risk. If things go bad, expect to lose your entire investment.

odd move to apologize for mismanaging players funds. I honestly believe this was no a ponizi scheme but this sportsbook was so poorly handled they did not protect players funds and accepted wagers the shouldn't and to sustain the business would have had to implemented much smaller limits to winning players. I do believe as someone realized they players account balances were a few million and their bankroll was 10 -20 percent of that they probably decided to simply steal those funds opposed to pay players a fraction.

correction, this most defiently was a ponzi scheme but turned into one after the operators got to a point of no return of operating a legit business. No one ran off with a boatload of money, they were probably paying winners with new deposits for a few months.
