    Delaware is allowed to have "sports gambling" but it is confined to parlay wagers a la parlay/lotto type tickets. I don't count that as sports gambling. Single game sports betting is "sports gambling." The rest is just a gimmick under the guise of sports betting.

    I can see myself buying one of those crappy houses by the water in AC....eating every meal at harrahs with my diamond card..and basically spending the rest of my life in the casino

    I agree 100% and that's why I say there is only one state in the country with legalized sports betting: Nevada.

    The honest answer to that question is.... maybe. Christie is essentially saying f-you to the federal government. He is clearly doing something which is illegal, but the question is how will the federal government respond? Will the Feds raid a NJ sportsbook once it opens? Could be tricky in the final stretch of the election season.

    I really wish this issue would work its way up to the Supreme Court. There is NO WAY whatsoever it is Constitutional for the federal government to permit an activity in some states but forbid it in others. And if the USSC ever struck down the federal law on sports betting, then I think just about every state with legalized table games will add in sportsbooks.

    i want to sports bet anywhere in the US at any event, but wouldn't that probably be the worst for all of us since very few are profitable?

    This is exactly why this is so promising. Other states, like Illinois, Cali, and NY are making noises about Sports Betting, and will likely join any States Right action that NJ pushes forward. Probably other states will also. It will be a long, drawn out process, but ultimately it will be decided in court, hopefully in the states favor. And then the US joins the rest of the civilized world. I'm shocked and pleasantly surprised that Christie is at the forefront of this, as his state stands to lose the 2014 Superbowl if the NFL gets pissed, and I believe based on his prior statements he's personally against it, but I'm glad he's doing it and going with the will of the people.

    It may not necessarily have to be decided in the courts. Congress made the law and they can change it. There's really onmly one state, Nevada, which would (hypocritically) oppose legalizing sports gambling in other states. A bunch of state really want this, and I could see the rest saying they don't really care.

    Christie reaffirmed his decision that Atlantic City will offer sports betting this fall.

    (AP) ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- New Jersey will defy a federal ban and let people bet on the outcomes of football, basketball and other games this fall, Gov. Chris Christie said.

    Speaking at a news conference highlighting efforts to reinvigorate Atlantic City, Christie said the regulations his administration will issue next week make no attempt to overturn a 1992 federal law that limits sports betting to four states.

    "We intend to go forward," the Republican governor said. "If someone wants to stop us, then let them try to stop us. We want to work with the casinos and horse racing industry to get it implemented.

    "Am I expecting there may be legal action taken against us to try to prevent it? Yes," the governor said. "But I have every confidence we're going to be successful."

    The U.S. Justice Department declined to comment.

    A federal law called the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act limits sports betting to four states that approved it by a 1991 deadline: Nevada, Delaware, Oregon and Montana. At the time, New Jersey was given the chance to become the fifth but failed to act during a prescribed window.

    But for the past two years, New Jersey has been moving toward implementing sports betting.

    I doubt they Raid a casino for sports gambling in NJ, If that was the case they would Shut Las Vegas Down gaming..

    All I can say is that it is 113 degrees right now here in Las Vegas, and I am super happy walking down or driving to the nearest Leroy's/Cal Neva/William Hill or Stations or the M to hit up the books.

    Las Vegas, Pinnacle, or nothing as far as I am concerned.

    Monmouth Park said last week they will try to offer NFL betting this fall under Christie's law. They are the only track/casino that has stated they will try to do this so far.

    NFL pre-season starts in a month. Once Monmouth runs an advertisement or tries taking a bet, watch what happens.
