    Denial of service attacks are a thorn in the side of any webmaster, and do damage through multiple industries. Fortunately, there is upgraded technology to deal with these attacks and that's what BetIslands is in the process of implementing. Players using only BetIslands understandably may wish to cashout and wait for the smoke to clear.

    Just realized you weren't even around during the days of the original SBR. Now SBR has excuses for downtime. Too funny. Once it was a way to measure a book's reliability. That's what you get when you crawl into a book's pocket, with your eye on their pocket book.

    IM a little worried, I have a pretty decent sized balance on there but still have approximately 20k left in rollover. Thinking may be best to just forfeit the bonus and wait until dust settles.

    dont think they will let you forfeit the bonus? I know betjam used to let you do that, but i think i asked them when i started and they said no. I redeposited a large sum this morning and did well today so I have a good balance, but I feel pretty safe. It is annoying but I got a 700 dollar payout friday in 2 hours. I dont think they were ready for this type of attack and hopefully they will get it fixed soon.

    I'd be very weary of logging into your account if that site is being hacked. The hackers might be gaining access to your password using a mirror that looks identical to the regular login screen. AKA phishing

    To be fair, the online betting climate has changed considerably (particularly for Americans) since you joined SBR in 2005. What transpired in '06 and '07 were especially "game changing". There used to be so many decent Books to choose from that Site Reliability and Email Response Time were used as SBR tools to distinguish which Books were better than others. No more. Now the focal point is primarily payout reliability and speed in doing so. BetIslands still does especially well in this critical area.

    It's unfortunate and inconvenient that BI (Been Idle Sports) is down so often during this growth period. One could rightly argue that a rating downgrade is in order until their site is fully functional again. I'm willing to ride this storm out as long as I don't see payout problems. Until that happens, BI is still a solid B Book IMO.

    I guess i would still rather deal with these problems then deal with the every changing delay in payouts at brovada or whatever.. It sucks no doubt but honestly I feel worse for their cs. I am sure they are getting bitched at constantly and they really dont have anything to do with it.

    If you are located in the US as I am, you should know that the changes that Betislands has recently done, have moved their website to a host in Texas, US called Softlayer. This move now allows the US government full jurisdiction over all the data on the server, allowing them to seize it as they please. I am not doing any more business with BI until they move their site to an acceptable location. As I value my privacy.

    I'd like to hear from SBR or Betislands (Jon) as to whether that is actually true. Sounds false though.

    ping BI and you will see yourself

    C:\Users\cfish>ping betislands.mx

    Pinging betislands.mx [50.23.57.5] with 32 bytes of data:

    so...

    betislands.mx = 50.23.57.5

    quick lookup of the IP Address information.

    ip lookup proof here

    Result.

    Dallas, Texas

    You do the math.
