Appears someone get into my BI account

Placed bets this morning. Just checked into my account and they left me with 17 dollars. Lost over 1000, kind of sucks.

Betislands is my favorite book. Do you think any of these sports books will ever get an authenticator key?

I don't know what really happened here, but the incidents of alleged unauthorized account usage is growing.
Would you put it past a more shady book to be behind this from the inside?

As I wrote in the Betonline case last week, this is the only industry that treats passwords so cavalierly, in addition to tier one customer service agents having full visibility of the accounts' most sensitive information.

There needs to be at the very least a dual layer of security, as in a phone in phrase or pin to verify a customer, separate from the account's sole password that now is like a skeleton key as one word provides access to every facet of the account's actions.

Now I'm going to go to SBR and start a complaint thread so it looks like I'm telling the truth when I call BI this morning asking for all of my "stolen" money back! This is a joke!! LastPass is a firefox/chrome plugin saves all your passwords and you can use it to generate a secure password for each site and you don't have to worry about remembering the password, Lastpass will remember it. There's other password tools like that, lastpass is just my favorite. But you really need a unique strong password for any site that involves money. If you use the same password at say SBR and BI and SBR is hacked then the hacker has your email address and password and can just try it at all gambling sites. Every site should have it's own unique password.

If your BI account was really hacked then ask Betislands to check and see what IP the hacker was using. And make sure your computer is clean no malware and use strong unique passwords for every site, especially ones that involve money.

    Hi Matt,

Please contact me with your user name so we may do an IP check on your account , this is the first I hear about this .. these issues are better handled when the book is informed first not by reading the board.

    Cheers!

    Jon

Disable the casino. Disable the casino. Disable the casino.

It keeps people from draining you when they hack you, and it keeps you from playing something that is a losing proposition forever. Live casinos are the only acceptable exception.

I'm sorry... but what motive would a hacker have to hack an account and then play in the casino? It's not like they would ever be able to see the money. These threads make me laugh.

assholes don't use logic. plenty of things happen that make no sense. jon will figure out this particular case. but just to dismiss it because there is no apparent motive. doesn't seem like the correct response.

Absolutely no doubt this does happen.

Motive can be just the thrill of doing something one isn't allowed to do. Rebellion against society.

    Same as vandalism.

    disable it

have them put a note in the account that it can never be turned back on

    no matter what.

    get an email stating such

so if it does ever happen the book would be in the wrong.

So if the "hacker" would have hit it big in the online casino, how fast would it take for this guy to request a payout??

My account at Absolute Poker was hacked a few of years back, and the hacker went to the high stakes tables to play. Absolute figured the security breach was my fault -- perhaps correctly. But I still asked to have the lost money returned from whomever the chips were dumped to. Their fraud investigator said that he didn't think the chips were dumped. He said that they had determined that the hacker just hacked the money to go play for the fun of it at the high stakes tables. I have no idea how they made this determination. Of course, this was a very self-serving on their part. But it shows that there doesn't need to be any logical reason to hack and go to a casino to lose someone else's money according to that fraud investigator.

Dont believe you dude. First of all, if someone hacked into your account, the first thing you would do is contact BI about it. Sounds like you were afraid to contact them first so you went ahead and posted it here to get sympathy.

Second, if you lost over $1,000 , that wouldnt just "kind of sucks". The tone of your post just doesnt fit.

I agree with everyone here. How many people would take the time to steal a password just to play in a casino? There has to be a hand history, can you see what they played? Do you have any enemies that you share your sportsbook passwords with? Maybe Tony at 5dimes?

Cleary you don't agree with "everyone". Or should that be, not everyone agrees with you?

I do believe this kind of thing happens.

There are lots of sickos out there who just want to demonstrate their ability to make a nuisance of themselves by developing and spreading viruses, destroying property etc. for no end benefit to themselves other than perhaps gaining some sort of respect from their like-minded mates.

What I find quite intriguing is that so many seem to disbelieve the OP on the grounds mainly, it seems, that it unlikely that the perpetrator of this crime has anything to gain. But what has the OP to gain by posting a lie?

Maybe so. But why wouldn't he contact the shop and ask them to do an ip check before you go posting on the board. In addition, like some mentioned his casual attitude about getting fleeced for 1K. Overall, I do not buy his story.
