Online gambling in the US update

Online gambling in the US update

On March 8th, 2012, SBR interviewed New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak regarding a bill ("S1565") introducing legalised online gambling. SBR followed up with Senator Lesniak for a comment one week later:
NJ State Senator Raymond Lesniak: We're back on track to get on line gaming started in New Jersey having received Governor Christie's administrations amendments regarding licensing procedures. It will be approved by both houses by mid-May and signed by Governor Christie shortly thereafter.
In addition to New Jersey, California is one of the states in the hunt for legalising online gambling (sports betting, casino, poker); as well as the possibility of regulating intra-state betting. On March 20th, 2012, an SBR sporstbook news video report featured an interview with State Senator Roderick Wright, who discussed California's plans.

Nearly six years after the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act ("UIGEA")—legislation concerning financial instutitions processing online gambling transactions—the prospect of legalised online gambling at the state level is becoming more of a reality.

SBR will update this report as more news develops.
