    clarification please...thanks

my buddy and i are having an argument in which he said that there are some online sportsbooks which accept $100k for a single bet and will actually pay you if you win but i refuse to believe him.

i can only think of vegas accepting such a huge amount.

am i right or he has a good argument?

which reputable sportsbooks accept $10k up for a single bet and pays without any delay?

There's quite a few of them actually. 100K will depend on the game though - you might have to call in and get it manually approved, it will surely have to be for a MAJOR event, and it might help that you're a long time loser ;-)

Pinnacle, Greek (probably), Bookmaker (probably). I HIGHLY doubt very many other books would take that kind of action, some books on the credit side would likely do it such as Betgrande (I believe).

Keep in mind finding printed limits on any website will be damn near impossible. To be able to get that much down at one of those books you would have to be a well established player. Otherwise the only other place would be an exchange that I can think of.

you'd have to have proven yourself an utter gambling disaster first to get that sort of money on at Centrebet or Sportingbet .. I gave up on both after being cut to betting in pennies

but they always manage to come out with bullshit press releases at the spring carnival saying they've laid a bet of $1m or something quite unbelievable - everyone I know just laughs

TAB did take bets of $1M last year on Federer at 1.01 in a few matches though

Yeah online. I've never witnessed anyone bet massive amounts on sports events at the TAB's bricks and mortar shops. Only on horses. Not saying you can't do it though - I've just never seen it.

And I've never put that amount on - I wish! The most I've placed bets for were between 30 and 40k at Centrebet and Sportingbet on tennis matches, although the majority of that wasn't my money.

I have also seen 4 people first-hand, as in witnessing them enter the bets online, bet well over 100k on tennis matches after calling to confirm with the book that it was ok. But these people weren't ongoing players of these sites so I can only assume based on Hareeba's post that he has made bets this large himself as well so they would have been booted if they demonstrated that their winning large amounts was more than just a fluke.

The max I would ever have bet at those establishments would have been in the order of $2k when the AUD was worth a heck of a lot less than the USD. But I was winning consistently from them mostly on tennis and AFL for about 4 years or so before they cut me down to not-worth-bothering-with limits.

Yeah, I hear you. Centrebet's chopped me down too on NCAAB and NBA TTs. Both after a limited number of plays.

Now I'm just more careful about spreading my bets around and since I'm definitely not a pro of any sort, I tend to fly under the radar.

These books are good though if someone wanted to hit and run them in tennis for a large amount, moreso during a Slam, for a few bets until any flags were raised. Especially if they were betting -EV massive favourites or a big dog (which was the case with the people I know).

At least that's what I've seen anyway. And to be honest, the people I know were paid with no questions asked and were never so much as questioned by the book. Again though, they weren't long time customers.

Far more likely to get it with a site using agents aka credit.

Most of them have what's called Credit ... here is where the real money moves.

A lot of them do for recreational bettors. I was in a poker room late in the NFL season and overheard a guy talking to bookmaker on the phone. He was saying "130 thousand on SD -9, bkr%^&8 " I recall cringing as there was not a worse bet he could have possibly made that week. Cin ended up winning outright by ten or something too.

Betfair - 1 million down would be no problem on some of the biggest events.
