    I'm curious, how is something like this payed out? Can you get it all at once? And I'm guessing you obviously have to report it to the IRS for such a large transaction? Is it done by transfer to a bank account? I'm planning on winning my own 10 teamer one day so these answers could prove useful

    You collect the money in whatever way the book will pay you. Then for that tax year where you collected the money you do an accounting of money lost versus money won in all of your gambling adventures that year and you report any net winnings (the amount above your losses). That's it. The net win is treated as income and you pay taxes on it.

    Obviously there is a lot to discuss with an accountant (tax rate, other write-offs, etc.) as those can be substantially helpful but for the purposes of a quick answer, the above paragraph would be it.

    I hope you get your ten teamer. If for no other reason than Gekko is your avatar!

    agreed, I won 2k on a $5.00 - 5 game parlay this weekend and thought that was great - 500 on a 10 teamer is sick, regardless of how wealthy you are, it's still a pretty insane win. Congrats.
