They should ban them, it sounds like a loud farting noise, I'd rather hear fans singing and chanting. But since when did FIFA put improving the game over what's marketable?

I watched the confederation cup, vuvuzelas takes a lot away from the atmosphere. FIFA will regret not banning them just watch.

Hopefully they implement some kind of ban after the first week, should be long enough for them to make a logical decision on it lol.

banning vuvuzelas in Africa is like banning clapping and yelling in Europe.
I don't really like them either, but it's part of their culture and we should accept that.

I like them, it gives the African teams a little bit of an advantage, which they should have on their own continent. I think it adds to the atmosphere as well - not the atmosphere as europeans know it (Anfield, Al Sami Yen etc) but an african atmosphere - it gives the competition a different feel, plus it gives the coaches a different challenge!

What? Isn't having home-soil advantage enough of an advantage, especially in a continent like Africa?

It doesn't give anyone a new challenge, the only thing it gives is headaches and migraines.

They don't have to ban them. Just force them to put a radish at one end so it wouldn't make any noise when they blow it.

Yeah, I friggin hate those stupid things. So ridiculous, takes away from the atmosphere IMO. I like hearing a crowd get into a game, not some cheap plastic funnel being blown endlessly. I saw a special on ESPN talking about the damage those things do to your hearing. Apparently they can and will easily cause hearing loss.

I am also skeptical towards these annoying little things. Hopefully it won't be as bad as I think it will be. They should be banned if so.

Can you imagine spending thousands of dollar getting to- and staying in south africa to enjoy the world cup and then to get 50 people right behind you in the stadium blowing on these things straight into your ears? I would go fikcing ballistic.

    Idiot.

Anyways, vuvuzuelas are a part of their culture. Not particularly fond of them but they are a big part of African football.

It gives the coaches a different challenge by making it almost impossible for them to have their voices heard when shouting instructions at their players.

Part of the culture? They distract players, using them is far from fair play

No proof that they distract players, and they don't distract the African players. You could say that the antics of european/south american crowds distract players. At the end of the day it's in Africa, and you can't just change the way in which africans watch football.

fair enough, but i still think it would be unfair to the african teams and fans if they banned them.

Agree. It's a part of their culture and they should be allowed to portray it.

It was the same thing during the african cup of nations in january, constant sound all the time. They must be handing those things out when you enter the stadium. Sounded like a bunch of wasps swarming around the cameras.

Well, a "challenge" to you is what "headache" is to the rest of the majority, but sure, you're right

Ugh, those horns made confederations cup games unbearable when your team is losing.
