From the way he coached the team during the last couple of friendlies - against Mexico and USA - I was very unimpressed with Van Marwijk. The first halves, with starters, were fine. But both second halves, with backups, were horrible. I would have expected the coach to give some instructions from the sideline to get the team back on the rails, but he did nothing of the kind. So this seems to be a coach who can draw up a game plan, but not someone who can make adjustments on the fly.
So when the time comes to outcoach another coach in the tournament, the Dutch coach could easily come up short. No tactical genius by any means.
