Nigeria have some talented individuals , namely Barcelona's Asisat Oshala. They really play a wide open game from the stats and formations i saw in their past 10. The 3 - 0 win over New Zealand in April , raises a few eyebrows for sure. The New Zealand side that beat Norway today looked pretty solid. The Canadian team have lost 4 of their past 5 , albeit to USA , Brazil and France. Japan spanked us 3 - 0 in February , and it was all one way traffic. I will be rooting hard for our Cdn girls tonight , but i wouldnt risk $ on anything but an over.

I expected Spain to win this match by at least two goals. And I was almost right

I really expected Spain to win by 6 , 7 or more. Best player on the field was the Costa Rican goalie. She made 10 to 15 incredible stops , and a PK save as well. So far , and its real early , Spain are the team to beat.

I was just looking at that game. My 1st thought was Denmark all day long. There isnt much difference between the 2 sides. #13 vs #14 by FIFA rankings. If you look at the friendlies leading up to this tournament , Denmark were very impressive. A 2 - 0 loss to Spain's A team and beat #11 Japan and #3 Sweden. China lost 3 - 0 to Spain's 2nd stringers and looked average against teams that arent here. Why the big movement ?

I watched most of the china game.Could make a case they were better side for most of it.They should roll haiti and def put up a hell of a fight vs england.Line movement on china was justified IMO ..just bad result..good stout midfield they got

    Lets go Swedes!!

    Japan / Zambia O3.5 @ 1.98 ( 5 - 0 final ) So 5 - 1

I was shocked that both England and USA were held in check by far inferior foes. With goals scored being a #1 priority in tie breakers , i think that will change in the 2nd round of games.

What tiebreakers are either of those teams concerned with? They will win all 3 group games they play, they don't need to crush their souls on he scoreboard. The teams concerned with the goal differential are the ones playing them, hence why vietnam with with their most defensive lineup. If another team in the group tries to be a hero and open up against the USA that will only benefit them.

Lets assume that USA and Netherlands were to draw against each other. Winning the Group , and playing a 2nd place team in the knockout stage , will be decided by goal differential. Teams like Vietnam , Costa Rica and Zambia etc , know full well that they cant get into a gun fight with a Pop gun. Goals matter HUGE

Geez glad Swedes pulled it out...saw many pundits have basically penciled in France for semis ...might not happen after that draw..think we are close to seeing a huge upset or two..thought there would be more after NZ match ..minnow .teams have definitely improved over last 4-8 years...personally think one of the semi finalists and maybe 3 of the QF TEAMS YOURE youre you going to say wow never saw that coming

Germany down a few key players could certainly lead to that draw but the women's team doesn't underperform like the men have sadly done lately.

Agreed that the colombia game could be fairly high scoring
