    Confed Cup - Who wins?!

We have threads on team totals and over/under, but what about the winner of the cup? Brazil is favored, but not by much. I'm on Spain to win the cup at -105.

Well I took Spain to win the Confed Cup, not to win the game, so to speak. Therefore, even if they were to win in penalties, I'd still hit. Odds weren't nearly as good, but I didn't want to risk it being a draw after regulation.

Brazil is obviously very talented, but Spain has a stranglehold over the midfield and if they play their possession game it could frustrate a young Brazil. If this happens, Brazil's play will get sloppy and Spain will certainly be able to capitalize on that. Spain needs a Confed Cup title to further their claim of one of the best Spanish teams of all time, and continue being called the best team in the world. I am worried a little about the extra days rest and the grueling match Spain had with Italy, but these players know how to prepare and have the drive and experience to get past that.

No team has managed to leave Brazil with any sort of victory since 2002. That's a whopping 33 games. And they haven't been beaten at the Maracana in a competitive game since 1957.

Well it's not 1957 anymore, a lot has changed since then. In my opinion that adds more pressure to Brazil than to Spain, to uphold something. Adds to frustration if they get scored on, things aren't going their way, and such a young team is subject to hiccups in organization and play when that happens. However, history somehow finds a way of repeating itself. Reading your posts you know a lot about soccer, so I'm not going to discount anything you say, but I just have a hunch on Spain today being awoken by Italy in the last match.

Brazil: Cesar; Alves, Silva, Luiz, Marcelo; Gustavo, Paulinho; Oscar, Fred, Neymar; Hulk.

Spain: Casillas; Arbeloa, Pique, Ramos, Alba; Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta; Mata, Torres, Pedro.

Love to see Mata starting. Let's go Spain.

Torres found himself in some good situations against Italy, had some good play. Was not able to finish any of his chances, but he did create some opportunities. He looked gassed at the end, but I he's competing for that spot and I think we should expect a lively Torres today attempting to prove why he should be in the starting lineup.

I'm on Spain too. They are the 1st European team to win the World Cup outside Europe so they definitely can break the voodoo here.

Brazil is playing really well defensively, even better than Italy. They are not allowing the Spaniards to settle when they have the the ball.

Game over. Spain looked so nervous throughout the 1st half and David Luiz defying the physics goalline clearance took all the confidence away from them. Not to take anything away from Brazil, they played really well to deserve the lead.

I don't think so. Spain is going to attack more, leaving even more gaps at the back for Brazil to expose on the counter.

How the hell did David Luis touch that without it going in, that was insane, he couldn't replicate that if he tried to. Really was high on Spain before it started but they look uncomfortable as hell out there. If there is ANY chance it's going to be to get a quick goal in the second half and try to poke one more in for extras, but that's extremely unlikely.

3-0, pity Balotelli got injured or Spain wouldn't be here in the first place. I didn't think it would be quite this easy though.

I cant believe anyone would bet spain after they couldnt score a single goal on italy. f\*\*k spain. They ruined a huge 5 leg parlay for me in the italy game so im glad they are getting hammered. Losers like to pass the ball for 90 minutes and torres is a queer.

I don't think Balotelli would have make the difference. He was in the team that lost 4-0 to Spain in Euro 12.

Spain needs to bring in some new blood from their under 21 side. This team suddenly look so slow and old. Drop the 2 jokers, Torres and Arbeloa.

I said the same thing to myself.. I know Navas doesn't like to take PKs because he says he has major anxiety with them, but why not Iniesta or another offensive player?

Pique taking down his future teammate. RED CARD!!!

Can't wait to see the Messi-Neymar combo next season.
