    EP36's 2012 London Ninja-lympics!

    Well you all know I hate consolidating into one thread for soccer, but figured I'd do it in one thread like I did for Euro 2012. Let's make some money and go for the mother truckin' Gold Ninjas! All wagers are either risking one unit or to win one unit unless otherwise noted.

    Olympic Futures
    To Win Group A: Uruguay +120
    To Win Group B: Mexico +150

    Looking at worst to split these two futures and walk away with a little profit. I think Uruguay's attack is going to be dangerous and perhaps the difference maker between Great Britain winning the group & Uruguay winning. The British group also has not had much in the way of preps for the tournament with just one friendly against Brazil. This group could very well come down to the match between the Brits and Uruguay.

    Mexico has a wealth of young talent and are looking to break through for a medal. The Swiss and South Koreans will both be tough, but if the Mexicans play to their potential, especially from an offensive perspective - they will be tough to beat.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    7.26.12
    Mexico PK [-165]
    Mexico opens against South Korea. Neither side will be looking to drop points to open, so it is possible this could play out to be a stalemate. Still, Mexico have the clear advantage in attacking talent. If they can grab a goal early, I think it will be tough for a pragmatic South Korean side to try to change it up and keep pace offensively. The Koreans want to play a tight defensive match, so I think this one is decided on which squad can dictate the pace early. If Mexico is creating chances, I like their chances to pull out the W. If not, I still think they can work a draw at worst and return the investment.
    UAE-Uruguay Over 2.5 [-115]
    Simply expect the talented attack of Uruguay to pressure the UAE defense and the Emirates aren't without chances if this match goes at a quick pace.
    Actually, I've read a little more in the past hour & I'm going to drop Gabon from being a play tomorrow. Too many unknowns with their missing players. If they figure out how to work as a unit, they have the talent - having won the U-23 African competition last year, but will wait to see how they work out instead.
    Precisely why I am avoiding laying any of these large handicaps in first matches in this tournament. Know enough about the rosters to see who I like, but until you see them play - you don't know fully what to expect.
    Taking the PK on Mexico was a pretty safe play. They didn't play well for the majority of the match until Dos Santos got in there and made some good chances. Still ended in a draw and nothing lost.
    The first few matches have been poor. Lots of energy and drive, but very little end product and lots of sloppy play. Many players running around aimlessly.
    Can't wait to see Brazil dominate most of these teams with their 'true' national squad.
    Over is the first banker of the toirnament. Uruguay has looked dangerous for the 1st 15 of the 2nd half and finally got one.
    lock that over, uruguay 2-1 early in the second half. Actually took gabon pk/+.5 too so hope they hold that tie or actually get the win.
    Gabon showed well. They are going to be a tricky squad I think. That draw helps a lot for the group hopes of Mexico winning still because everyone is level. I think Mexico's shot of winning the group could hinge on their match with Gabon on Saturday. If they can win that, they could be in good shape. South Korea & Switzerland could likely play tight to a draw,
    Olympic Record: 1-0-1 [+1.00]
    7.29.12
    Senegal-Uruguay Over 2.5 [+110]
    Senegal's speed really gave Great Britain some problems and they might have been a little unlucky to only get a draw as they had some big opportunities to score a 2nd goal. Uruguay did not play that well in their opener against the UAE, but their attacking quality showed in the 2nd half as they put home a 2nd goal early and showed to be threatening. They also allowed a lot of shots from the UAE, 13 but only two were on goal. Senegal put 18 shots up, six on goal vs. GB - I expect them continue to try and shoot every chance they get.
    Draw Project
    Japan-Morocco +273
    South Korea-Switzerland +219
    Senegal makes really terrible challenges. Too bad for them because they are/were troubling Uruguay quite a bit. Now down a man because of a silly tackle on a break away. Hopefully good for the over though.
    Awesome corner again for Senegal and they go up 2-0. Crazy how many times the team that goes down a man actually scores next. Over looks tasty now.
    This is going to be a painful end to the day. Uruguay played like dog shit and never really offered to help add to the total. Japan scores in the 84th minute to break the draw that looked like it was getting really close.
    Just moving on to the next match day. Only thing I sort of liked was Spain to lay a smack down on Honduras although it's at close to -150 now for -1.5. Still, Honduras gave up two goals to Morocco and Spain has to win today. Think 2-0 or 3-0 potentially, but who knows.
    The Uruguay result wasn't a total shocker given they played like ass against UAE as well, but they at least had the finishing touch when needed. To not get anything up a man for nearly an hour is pathetic.
    8.1.12
    Brazil-New Zealand Over 3 (-134)
    Brazil is starting a strong lineup again even if theu have no work to do today. Still, they have banged home three goals in each of their first two group matches and will be licking their chops against the Kiwis who allowed 28 shots to Egypt. Brazil has also been scored on in both matches so far which is one reason I am going for the total over the -2 handicap.
    8.1.12: Mexico-Switzerland Over 2.5 [-102]
    Mexico can advance with a draw, but can win the group with a win. Dos Santos is finally starting, so it seems to be that Mexico is going to go for it. The Swiss need a win by a crooked number + some help from Gabon in beating South Korea. Highly unlikely, but it should lead the Swiss to go for goals. We'll see if the finishing touch is there.
