I don't know how much info is reaching those across the seas but here in England the media is ablaze with the news that Ryan Giggs had an affair. The media is often forced to keep quiet regarding stories involving players and their personal lives and whilst their was an injunction in place to prevent this situation, the story has gotten out. This information comes right before one of the biggest games of his career.

I saw him on a football show here in England and he was very subdued, not at all like his usual self. He also missed a training session with Utd. Ferguson is not happy one bit either. Right now he wants to use the media to his advantage but they are working against him right now, putting focus on Utd in a negative way.

This has hurt his reputation as Giggs won sports personality of the year in 2009. Giggs is a really important player for Utd and this news will really affect his focus for the game. I already have my money on Barca but for those of you who are undecided, consider this before you make your decision.

Liverpool's European success is why they are the most successful club in English history. Sure Man Utd have 1 extra domestic title, but our European success makes us the most successful.

Don't try and argue your point on semantics. Liverpool is an English club and any trophies they win in football, on any level, will be counted towards their success. The champions league trophy from 2005 is sitting in Anfield right now as a testament to Liverpool's European success.

Don't see how me bringing up Ryan Gigg's roasting in the press is me being a fan living in the past. You talked about Giggs being the most successful british player EVER and I simply said Dalglish has that title. So yeah I brought up the past but only because it is relevant if you want to talk about THE ENTIRE PAST OF BRITISH FOOTBALL!

Fair enough Utd have been the dominant force in England for the past 20 years, but it doesn't change the fact Liverpool have an incredible history and I will always be proud of that. I respect Utd because if I didn't I wouldn't care about our matches against each other. Utd have built a dynasty and I can't fault them for that, but one day it will all be in the past too. Ferguson will retire in the next few years and the debt that burdens your club will eventually bury you.

But that's in the future. For now I made this topic to discuss something that is very relevant for Saturday's final. I'm not saying this is why Barca will win or anything like that, but I couldn't see a mention of it anywhere else on the forum so I wasn't sure if this info was widespread in places like America etc. If you don't think it will be a factor then fair enough, but I'm sure a lot of other people will find it interesting.

Dude, the deal was that Utd have won more league titles, there was nothing more to it. Overall success is measured on a broader scale. You're just trying to discount Liverpool's success but I'm not surprised as you're a Utd fan. In their history Liverpool have won more than any other football club in England, that's something to be proud of and the last 20 doesn't change that. Its not about clinging to past glory its about appreciating Liverpool's rich heritage, all of its past glories and all its tragedies like Hillsborough.
