    IRC Chat ?

Ever thought of creating a channel for this website? I think that would be great if we have a live chat room to chat all out from anything about soccer, basketball, betting to even your real life story Just chat about whatever. Future events may have specific topics to discuss (sports-related, Picks-related, bet related, upcoming matches, etc.). Also, maybe we can have games and prizes in future events. Anything's possible.

@ The owner of this forum: If you need help setting one up, let me know. I'm more then willing to help u setting one up. You can also install a java chat on this forum (for those who don't have mirc).

Hmm... inactive. Maybe we can create events and set a date and time for this event, that is most convenient for everyone who wishes to participate, ect.

However IRC is still a lot better then the current chat software.

@ The owner of this forum: If you need help setting one up, let me know. I'm more then willing to help u setting one up. You can also install a java chat on this forum (for those who don't have mirc). I have my own IRCD (irc.wetalksoccer.com) . The chat network has 3 hubs with irc.vbirc.com, irc.vbirc.net and irc.vbirc.org - and a handful of leaf servers leaf.vbirc.com net and org. And anope services, neostats services and denora services on service.vbirc.com net and org. We are to start with a network for web sites admins that run a site and wish to add chat to their community

Additionally we're a normal open network where everybody can connect to and start channels, etc. We mask hosts to avoid abuse, and we run services to avoid channel take overs, etc. We also allow users to set vhosts in our help channel. We run our services on specialized shell providers (some sponsor us too) and VPS / dedicated solutions, and spread over various continents and countries. and at this point we can handle a lot of simultanious users. Our current peak is 600+ without experiencing lag. And we can handle 250 or 1024 per server. So at least 5,000 without falling over. And because we are sponsored and understand that sometimes people have events, we at any point can add more irc servers. My staff is spread over the world (uk, ca, us, nl, etc [except me - which is from sg ) and is there to help where needed. And we follow a protocol in regards to abuse. We've recently also build our own web site (version 1 and already working on version 2) on http://vbirc.com

If you are really interested, I can even provide at no cost a reverse resolve of a unique IP (IN A with reverse) to the host irc.sbrforum.com as leaf server on our network becoming part of our irc.sbrforum.com. So your irc server support points to our ircd and your channels on our network. This way you get your own ircd, at no cost, with much operator control, and support from our current opers. And we get the users on our network, hopefully using our network more for their own new channels, and to get irc support and site support.

You will in return for example become part of our network and point your channel to irc.sbrforum.com and your support chat (if you have any).

What I get out of this is you using our network, therefor more users. And start a good relationship between our networkwork and sbrforum.com

As you can see, this helps you and your site gain traffic, and new users using your chat to discuss/chat on matchday. And in return we get those users to use our network; which we offer at no cost to them. Also, don't you feel that its a lot better to have your own irc domain (irc.sbrforum.com) rather then using some other server? Not only that it looks better but a lot much more professional.

Hmm... I keep searching up and down but just couldn't see any introduction forum. So I thought of posting it here and so to let you guys get to know more about me . Just in any case for those who don't know me well, so let me Introduce myself

I'm a person and stuff. Mostly person, sometimes stuff. My name is Brian, male, 32 years of age. A typical New Zealand Chinese who's currently posted back in Singapore. I was born in Singapore and grew up in New Zealand. I'm an easygoing person, you can hardly see me involved in any argument. I enjoyed offering my helping hands to any of those who need it. I have 100% confident to myself never taunt or ridicule to any members in any thread. Keep polite attitude, stay peace and cool mind is my principle at here.
As how I found this website? I happen to came across this site while checking on all the vbulletin powered board and spotted this awesome forum - looks great. Great to see people using vbulletin.

I work for vBulletin-fans/tutorials/chat/style Network. I have moderated several forums, as Moderator and Administrator, so I know virtually everything about vbulletin. I own quite a numbers of forums one forum and I'm an Administrator on another. hm, I am 28 - single (ladies?) - and bored out of my mind. I love computers. I would classify myself as a computer nerd for sure. Thing is, I'm not what you would expect me to look like. I have hair down to the middle of my back, 3 earrings, 2 lip rings, an eyebrow ring, and a tongue ring...Haha

My hobbies are forums, vbulletin, computers, soccer, basketball, ect. I like meeting new people on the internet. I'm a very cool person once you get to know me. I try my hardest to help out the Owners and Assistant Owners of the website I administrate, along with the ever so important members that make the site run.

Well, I guess you guys are getting sick of reading this, or already got sick of it and are getting ready to click the back button..

    Anyway, that's all abt me.

I've been saying that this place needs a real ircD for months, man, so you're not alone. They've made improvements to the chat here, but it's still a shadow of what a real chat environment is like. Best of luck to you in getting through to the decision makers.

They don't believe in voting on SBR. Dozer makes a bad decision and then the rest of the staff is responsible for covering it up and working around it.

So many matches for today, dont u guys think it'd be great if we can join in together and have a live chat room to chat all out to or rather discuss all about the upcoming matches, etc.

I also suggested running the chat via IRC when it first started. I idle in several IRC rooms, but I'll be damned if I'm leaving a java chat window open when I'm online.

I'm for it, I imagine the java chat may have an irc backend, so I don't know why we can't use it directly.

No, they coded it from scratch, that's why it doesn't even work right. The most hilarious part is they try to shove this SBR.tv stuff down our throats, but yet they can't figure out how to embed SBR.tv videos in their own chat. The whole thing has been a mess for going on two years now, and it'll never get fixed, because it doesn't make them any money. Sportsbooks that sponsor this place only care about unique visitors per day, not some gamblers sitting in a chat room. John has promised us improvements since it was launched, but like so many others they're just empty promises.

I'd love to see an IRC version, but the guys that still hang in there resist it pretty strongly. Let me know if you get it up and running, though, I'll come idle in it. It's about time somebody showed SBR how people with skills and vision setup a chat room.

    Hello everyone,

My apologies for the late follow up. Been down busy with my real life work.

Well, this offer is still valid, provided you guys are still interested. If you guys don't like the the java web browser client, there will always sure have some other alternative way to op for. The one that I'd recommend is mibbit, it supports all kind of PC and Mac browsers, and if you're not at a PC it also works on PS3, XBox, Wii and iPhone too! And whatnot?! We also coded a plugin for integrating mibbit into the vBulletin application which you can use it for your own vBulletin forum.

As for the rest, those who prefer the stand alone irc chat client to directly connect to our network. We recommend mIRC for Windows, XChat-Aqua for Mac OSX, and XChat for Linux. Once downloaded, installed and loaded, you can point it to our main server. The main server will automatically connect you to one of our servers on the network. Once connected you can pick a nickname, even register it, join our chat channel. And start chatting (I've setup a temp channel #soccer till you guys decided what name to go for).

    Server irc.wetalksoccer.com
    Port: 6667
    Channel: #soccer

We accept connections on port : 6667 (our default port)
    Alternative ports are : 6665, 6666, 6667, 6668, 6669, 7000, 8080, 8067, 9999

    Cheers,
    Brian
