I generally find that the high-end foot models come from Europe and Asia. I know from being Asian that we keep our household floors and our feet squeaky clean. Maybe that's why I can appreciate and develop a foot fetish. Is it an American thing to develop a disgust for feet?

I was always under the impression that Americans took terrible care of their feet and home; that they wear shoes all day long, dirty up their homes by walking around in shoes, letting their shoe soles touch their bed covers... At least that's what I see portrayed in television, movies, and media.

I witnessed some disgusting stuff when I was attending my university, that there were even handful of students (always white) that walked across campus with their bare feet, going to class like that. You can see them crossing their legs, revealing a blackened, muddied sole. It was among the grossest things I've ever witnessed.

Also, for those that lived in the dorms, I normally see white people walking down the hall, heading to the bathroom (for showering) in bare feet, while the ethnic students tend to wear flip flops to not dirty their feet by the hallway floor.

I don't want to generalize that all Americans/white people are like this, but probably the majority is. For the most part, everyone I ever knew that had tolerance for feet or even a fetish generally had clean feet and good hygiene themselves. Is it safe to say that people who HATE feet actually have gross feet themselves? Sure, you generally find people that don't care for foot fetishes, but some people have strong hostility towards it. I don't think any fetish for any body part has gotten as much flak as the foot has... Well, maybe poop fetish, but that's an extreme example and not a body part.
