You know-if you have to eat out and want to feel pampered there are other ways to do it and still tip something. Friendlies used to have 50% off the entire breakfast . We used to go there and get 50% off not just the breakfast itself but even the drinks. The orange juice the coffee everything was 50% off for months. I have seen this at several Friendlies. Now take your 3 kids there at 50% off you can leave a tip with the money you saved . Or go on Swagbucks . Do surveys . Earn points ITS FREE. Build up points and get a gift card. I have $1500 in points right now . My wife has over $1000 + i think. Last night we ordered Doordash after cashing out $100 one and guess what. We did not spend a dime and covered the tip. They have Darden cards you can build up points and go to Olive garden or Longhorn several of them. They have Applebees. Get a $100 card that should pretty much cover everything for a mother and her couple kids. Now you can Afford a tip.

I cannot tell you how many times we have eaten out for free or ordered Doordash and got everything for free because of swagbucks. That way you never have to still the waiter. Or like i said go to a 50% off Friendlies for breakfast.
I'd rather go hungry than eat that rubbish

I remember once in my life years ago things were going great and i felt in a generous mood and i knew the guy who delivered from Marcellos our normal pizza place nicest guy. We ordered like a $60 order and i knew the guy was saving for a newer car (He drove a pos ) so i told him i cannot give you a 20% tip today. He was fine nice guy so i gave him a 100% tip .

Applebees not the best but it is the closest to us. And the 2 for $20 a decent deal. And they had the $1 drinks going for awhile. They put gummies even on them they should have one coming up for Halloween .They had a gummy brain in it. Wait let me find a pic there has to be a pic.

Christ... I have an idea... how about I order my food online.... drive to the place... make my own food... bag my own food and pay for my own food? Yeah... it's getting ridiculous.
If that place has a specific to go area the person that is preparing your food isn’t making minimum wage just so you know. They are making a tip wage like servers and rely on the tips to get to that number.

In Vietnam there is no tipping. When you pay with a credit card at a restaurant there is not even a space for a tip on the receipt. The only place you tip here is for massages. At times it can be insulting to tip someone here and it kind of catches them off guard because people don't do it.

Our favorite is Longhorns but if we do not not want to travel far right around the corner is Applebees way closer then everything else. It is not the worst food it is average . But add in a $1 drink that is not that bad. I did used to Like the Bourbon St steak and potatoes that was on the 2 for 20 but they removed it. I think it is still a step up from actual fast food . I dont hate it but i do not get excited either. But it is 10xs closer then Longhorns if we do not want to drive far.

We order Doordash a decent amount too and i think we ordered from Applebees once out of all those times. Oh and i will give them this- they are one of the few restaurants that give me a free meal on Veterans day. Them and Houlahans.

You should see the door dash section on Reddit it’s just drivers talking about how they don’t appreciate tips them stealing orders them complaining about every order they get that’s not a 20 dollar tip.

You literally just sent me an article that proves my point lol. The owner of two high end cafes increased his prices 30-35% so that he could pay higher wages to his servers so that people didn’t have to tip. Hence no tipping food prices go up. And notice food prices went up 30-35% which is more than the standard 20% tip a normal person would give.
You couldn’t have made my point easier. Thank you

Do I give a fukk? They need to find another job. That worker needs to negotiate with the owner and get off of "Tips" and get a higher hourly wage.... The "owner" is abusing that employee. Duke... you have no brains at times pal. Common sense sh##... and you don't think much.

Obviously many posters in here are untraveled and ignorant to other parts of the globe. Only in the USA do you pay sticker price for anything. If you don’t haggle over a price you are considered an imbecile. The same goes for tipping. Only in the USA do people tip servers.

Servers make way more than cooks.

We had servers at the restaurant that I used to work for that made more than the managers.

Everything is negotiable and I do mean everything. One time at Foxwoods casino we were in the bar lounge because the dining room didn’t open for another 3 hours. Needless to say the bar menu sukked. I had seen our waiter, John, a few previous times.

I said we both wanted broiled diver scallops over a bed of spinach with a bottle of this certain Chardonnay. Here’s $50 for the cook and I will pay you a 25% gratuity of the total bill, including the wine. Everybody won. No losers anywhere. Made our afternoon made the waiters afternoon, made the chef’s afternoon, and the entire bar in shocked disbelief as to who the fukk we were to get such service.

That blows my mind i always thought the guy making the food would make more. I looked up online and are you including tips? It says a cook average starting salary for a no experienced one is $10-$12 Per hour. I guess at like a diner. Do cooks get tips added in too i have no idea. They get benefits at least i hope too. Always thought cooks made more but looks like average of under $30000 . I guess i am thinking of these guys on these cooking shows with the big white hats.

Good call on the scallops, spinach huh?
You're like only the third person I know of that ordered spinach voluntarily.

I'm OK with spinach thing is it makes me, umm, gassy.
Nobody likes a farty Nasher, especially Mrs. Nasher.
    And my farts are legendary.

    True story:
I had a dinner date, oh about 20-22 years ago (now I'm showing my age) any-hoo, she can order anything off the menu, I'm a sport, open wallet, she could have ordered lobster tails and prime.

    What does she order?
    Liver and onions.
I'm saying to myself "WTF, the menu is wide open, she can order anything what she wants, price is no object, and she's ordering liver and onion, WTF is up with this broad"?

Oh well, taste in food is like taste in music, or fine art, it's subjective.

Do you remember maybe a year and a half ago when the Mcdonalds people were crying they wanted $20+ an hour or something crazy like that. There would have went the dollar menu.

I have been to other countries where they do pay them better and i do not remember outrageous prices. I think it would be great if they would do that here i would be Ok with paying a bit more for the food . But it is not like that i just cannot with a good conscious not tip a server who makes $2.13 an hour something. It's not their fault they did not create the situation they just are trying to make a living .

I really do enjoy spinach too . I just got creamed spinach the other day from Boston Market.

    True story

About 35 years ago i was at a Sizzler on a date. I also let them order whatever i am chivalrous. They had Spinach on the menu so i went and ordered that.

Through a door in the back the cook comes running in screaming. He ran out the front door. Then from the back came this creature about 9 feet tall. It reminded me of the Predator and it started going around killing everyone. There was blood everywhere i could not believe it it killed my date.

I really like spinach though so i just kept eating i mean it is spinach. The creature came up to me and sat across from me. When he removed his mask to my surprise he looked just like popeye.

Turns out all they got on their ship were popeye cartoons and they assumed only people that ate spinach were worth sparing. They morphed into popeye so people would not be as afraid of them.

We both finished our spinach he planted several devices anally so we can keep in touch and send xmas presents during the holiday and he teleported to wherever it was he came from. I think the bathroom the device was malfunctioning or something .

So the morale of the story is . Eat your spinach it will one day save your life.

Your true story is better than my true story.
Actually spinach is more efficient if smoked in a corn pipe.
This way you can get bulbous muscles and an amazing buzz at the same time.

My story is indeed a true one, I can eat most anything escargot, no problem, calves liver I can't even force down, it's got that mineral taste to it, my dad liked it, that's about it.
Head cheese? Who TF eats head cheese, it's got like pig snouts in it.

What's the eight words you'll never hear at the deli?
"Give me a pound of head cheese please"

Of course it includes tips. They only make $2.81 an hour. Servers are the masters of their own destiny. You can be a shitty server and take 20 smoke breaks a day and walk out with $100 a day, or be a great server and hustle and leave with $200.

It gives the argument even more on why people need to tip then. Without then it would not be close. And you still did not answer what the Swedish Chef would make. He has to make more then $30000 being famous. And why is the Lobster holding a gun that looks like a gun .
