    California Governor Recall

Have people in California seen all the high profile Democrats pleading with California citizens to vote 'NO' on the recall of Governor Newsome?
I find it pretty funny he needs so much help form people outside the state to save his ass.

I hope he gets the boot. The dude is a disease. He makes Gov Brown look like a genius.

For those unfamiliar with the process, the ballot contains just two questions:
    1. Should Gov. Gavin Newsom be recalled?
    2. Which candidate should replace him?

What should Democratic voters do on question two?

"Leave it blank," Newsom spokesperson Nathan Click said via email.

    1. Yes
    2. Whoever appears to have the best chance to win a recall vote. I'm not sure at this point.

Newsom wants voters to ignore the recall ballot's second question. They don't have to

Whether they understand that they also have the right to select a potential replacement isn't part of his equation.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/newsom-wa...120033657.html

"I think it’s unfortunate that the Democratic Party is not giving voters any guidance on what to do on the second question," said Kim Alexander, president of the nonpartisan California Voter Foundation. "It’s going to leave a lot of people confused."

    "It’s a counterintuitive vote."

"I know a lot of very smart people and people who are very engaged in political action who still don’t seem to understand there are two questions on this recall ballot," said Marcia Hanscom, a longtime environmental activist and state Democratic Party delegate. "And the answers to both of these questions are essential."

You have to wonder why the Democrats didn't use the fcuk Arnold strategy.

    It would have worked.

276 mill down the tubes and if the GOP is lucky and Newsom gets recalled, they get one year before their guy gets annihilated in 2022 election. Don't really understand the strategy on this one, but I like all the betting markets we get on predictit and polymarket for it.

Why We Must Recall Gavin Newsom

    by Michael Shellenberger
    https://michaelshellenberger.substac...-shellenberger

I voted and campaigned against the recall of California Governor Gray Davis in 2003 and, as a rule, oppose the recall of politicians, except in extreme circumstances.

Newsom's supporters are trying to bridge an enthusiasm gap by pumping up the fear

“The Republican Party is trying to take over our governor position and we’re really concerned about what that will do to the minimum wage, to workers’ rights, to the right to unionize,” Jennifer Shanoski , a community college chemistry professor and president of the Peralta Federation of Teachers, told a janitor at one home.

    https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics...s-16403485.php

Several public polls in recent weeks have shown that, while Newsom retains the support of a majority of the heavily Democratic California electorate, the race is too close to call among likely voters because Republican enthusiasm is so much higher.

Over the course of three hours, Shanoski visited nearly 60 homes that dotted a map on a phone app. She couldn’t reach anyone at the vast majority of them and left flyers stuffed into locked gates or unanswered doors.

That's a steep price to pay to embarrass someone. The problem is if Newsom is recalled, then you basically have Trump 2.0 running Cali. You really think they're going to respond well to a guy who wants to get rid of the minimum wage and eliminate all mask mandates?

How do you think people in Florida or Texas would react if dems pulled this stunt and ran up a 276 mill bill trying to recall Abbott or Desantis and replace them w/someone like AOC? I almost want the recall to happen because the backlash will be epic

Democrats sweat turnout disaster in California without Trump to run against

LOS ANGELES — Donald Trump could swing the California governorship to a Republican. Merely by his absence.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/0...against-506954

“Can Democrats win without having Trump as their foil? This is the challenge,” said Gray Davis, the former California governor who was recalled in 2003.

The lack of enthusiasm is so concerning to Democrats that Gavin Newsom, the state’s Democratic governor, has been furiously working to yoke his main Republican opponent, Larry Elder, to Trump, while volunteers working with the progressive advocacy group Courage California texted voters a plea last week not to throw their mail ballots away.

“They want Trump to be on the ballot. That’s the whole thing. That’s the whole premise of the campaign,” said Darry Sragow, a longtime Democratic strategist and publisher of the nonpartisan California Target Book, which handicaps elections in the state. “From the beginning, the fundamental premise of the anti-recall strategy has been that this is a referendum on Donald Trump, not on Gavin Newsom.”
