Man in Florida thought he bought

A 90000 dollar house in Florida online but he was misinformed and only sold a 50ft space of grass and the company refuses to give him refund.

He was buying tax credits on houses behind on real estate taxes

    1ft x 100ft plot of land

It was his own fault he didn't look up the parcel

Also, purchased it from the county, not a company.

You can just about apply gambling to most things

In this case, the guy was absolutely lazy. Who doesn't even look up the parcel number before potentially buying the property?

Can he rent it out to the villa owners? Otherwise he couldn't technically just chill on it and make life hell for the villa residents.

TAMARAC, Fla. - A South Florida man thought he snagged a deal when he paid $9,100 in an online auction for what he thought was a villa. What he got was a 1-foot-by-100-foot strip of land.

The land, valued at only $50, starts on a curb and goes under a wall separating two villas in the Spring Lake community and then out to the back of the lot.

An official tells the South Florida Sun Sentinel there's not a lot Kerville Holness can do about his purchase.

Holness says he was deceived. He says property appraiser photos linked to the auction site shows a villa being on the parcel he made a bid on.

But the newspaper says the appraiser's site and information on the county's tax site show no building value.

Probably no one was paying property tax on that little space separating the villas since no one owned it. So the county decided to auction it off and this dumbass bids $9,000 to start off. No one matches, he wins the auction. Now he has a $50
piece of land he paid $9,000 for and he has to now pay property taxes on it.

Really the reason why a real estate investor might buy something like that (a tiny sliver of land) is the hopes a big developer comes in that needs your piece of land to finish their project and you make them buy you out at a large profit.

seems very deceptive he should be able to do something why would anyone be selling that little strip separately anyway. I bet morino could win this case for him.

Since there are buildings on "his" property, he can sue the owners of the build and demand they remove said homes from the parcel..........they in turn will be forced to buy the strip from him or face further consequences. The taxes were not being paid on the strip by the builder, that's why the tax lien issue came up. Only is Florida, LOL........

Their houses aren’t on his property, only a small wall connecting the two properties.

he could maybe apply for a demo permit to remove his small wall, but that’s it. Not guaranteed city/county would even permit the demo since he cannot construct anything on it.

Sounds like the original builder was cheap and didn’t want to combine the lots

You know it would happen with Florida councils. Broward planning for sure.
