Never pay ransoms. It just gives the kidnappers another reason to do it again. Chances are they kill you anyways.

If a loved one gets kidnapped just change your phone numbers and don't even give the kidnappers a chance to contact you if you can. That's the best option. Ignore all calls and or notes.

Jibby have you had personal experiences where you paid a ransom but the kidnappers killed the person anyway?

I'm hard nosed. Only way to stop kidnapping around the world is to stop paying the kidnappers. It's a business now in some Countries.. I hate it all.

If I was kidnapped I would want the same done for me. No contact, no valid numbers, no ransom to be had. Kill me or let me go, you are wasting my time and yours no one will pay. Go ahead and torture me some more now if you'd like....

The disappearance of the foreigner occurred on the night of September 24, 2018.

It is presumed that through extortions made to relatives of the businessman, the alleged kidnapper obtained almost $ 1 million.

The Prosecutor's Office informed that in conjunction with the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), 11 raids were carried out this Friday, 10 in Costa Rica and one in Spain, to arrest the suspects and at the same time try to locate the foreigner.

In Spain, the Civil Guard captured an engineer named Morales Vega, his partner and his mother, surnamed Solís Chaves and Vega Aguirre, respectively.

Meanwhile, in Costa Rica, the operations took place in Cartago, La Union, Santo Domingo de Heredia, Guadalupe, Moravia, Siquirres and Limón. These allowed the arrest of nine people, among them the uncle and the grandmother of the leader of the organization, identified with the last names Vega Aguirre and Aguirre Leal.

Two officers of the Traffic Police, named Jirón López and Medrano Vargas, and five other persons were also apprehended.

Walter Espinoza Espinoza, director of the Judicial Police, said that those who were in Spanish territory will be transferred to the country for the corresponding process.

"The investigation started on September 25 of last year, after the North American was deprived of freedom on the previous day in the evening.

"His family received extortion calls and made an important payment to secure his release;however, since September 24 it is not known where it is, "said Walter Espinoza Espinoza, director of the Judicial Police.

Good thing I don't have to use person to person transactions. It look like most of the names they used to send me are now all in prison.

I get it in theory...but these people want paid....and USUALLY it will allow the Paying side to expose a flaw in the other persons plans/hide/defense....Atleast to expose who they are if they cash gets to them in 1 way or another....but agree...just assume the person is dead...

wonder if they got caught because they tried to have large amounts of money sent to their bank accounts and it got flagged, it's great to have 1 million in bitcoins still have to convert it to cash

Never fun getting fingers and ears in the mail. That's true, still you can't pay. If you are super rich you should have security around the clock especially in Costa Rica of all places. Sounds like Tony let his guard down and paid the ultimate price with his life..

That's why it's often wise not to flaunt your wealth and or drive an exotic fancy car around town, better to just blend in as a regular Joe if you are filthy rich. Keep it all on the down low. People don't need to know if you have a lot of money or not.

I agree 100%, he got cocky. A man with as many enemies should have been more paranoid.

His pride was his demise. I could elaborate more but out of respect for the ill/dead, I won't.

Thank God the fuks went totally stupid or CR authorities would have never solved shit. That country is a joke for investigations. Most of the law enforcement over there should be behind bars and the rest couldn't find their own ass using two hands.

Jeezus what an idiot!! You can't retire on just $1 million these days, you need at least 5 to 10 mill to live comfortably.

    Especially in Spain

Computer error when opening bitcoines wallet allowed the OIJ to clarify kidnapping of 'sportsbook' owner
Grupo demanded payment of $ 5 million, but only received $ 1 million; band was composed of 12 people; three arrested in Spain and the rest in Costa Rica, including two Transit police

The mistake of a computer engineer who opened a bitcones wallet from his house in Cartago was the clue that led the police to clarify the kidnapping of American William Sean Creighton Kopko, owner of a sportsbook in the country.

Wálter Espinoza Espinoza, director of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), explained that the fingerprint detected by computer researchers led them, first to identify a 25-year-old man with Morales Vega surnames, as the person who reviewed the account and , later, of all the accomplices, which in total add up to 11.

"That was the most important input that we use to be able to guide the investigation and to define the subjects that participated in the event. From that data we were able to string together all the events, "he stressed.

The kidnapping of Creighton occurred on the night of September 24 after the victim, who owns the sportsbook 5Dimes -whose offices are in the Equuos building in Montes de Oca-, returned from Curridabat to where he went to leave a colleague of the work.

The offended was intercepted by two traffic policemen who asked him to stop and then four people who arrived in a rented pickup, took him to a house in La Trinidad de Moravia. From that moment, the whereabouts of the businessman is unknown.

Isn't fact that they are still actively searching for Tony enough?

That plus this from Gambling911 5 days AFTER Tony's body was allegedly found:

Gambling911.com can confirm that as of Wednesday evening, no coroner in the San Jose, Costa Rica area has been in receipt of Sean "Tony" Creighton's body

It seems several outlets jumped the gun, it was not Tony's body.
