Would you recommend a high school senior attending an academy for a college degree then having to pay back 4 years of service?

Have you attended one of these institutions and what is your experience?

    Pros
    Cons

Trying to get a feel for the situation
Is it like a traditional college experience,
    Like drinking and orgy time?

You writing about discipline, respect, and honor is akin to a midget writing about post up play in the NBA. Neither knows anything about it.

If the kid can get in to a military academy and get a free university level education and then just have to serve 6 years or so for it. No brainer best deal out there . College paid off, military service a plus becomes a Vet a plus has on the job training and a career already started day 1 out of the Academy.

Good friend I met as a officer did . Said it was the best decision he ever made . Engineering degree from Penn state went to Annapolis became engineering officer on subs. Stayed in for 20 yrs got out and had the pick of jobs in high level companies .chose to go back to Pennsylvania and work at his home country water district bought a farm and is living the life he says. But the college stress of having to ever pay back a cent was never experienced and for that he said was priceless . Just focused on his degree.

The reality is most of our "wars" are to serve the military industrial complex (Lockheed, Raytheon, Halliburton) and globalist banking syndicate. You're risking your life for a phucking bank. It has absolutely nothing to do with helping or defending people.

We side with Saudi arabs because they sell their oil in dollars, thereby preserving our reserve currency status. Yet they're horrible abusive people.

Just know that you're risking life and limb for a powerful elite and definitely not some innocent person or whatever BS they tell you. Soon our country with have such a huge foreign population who hate America anyways, it's not like you're going to spend decades reaping the rewards for your 'service'. Many Mexicans and recent immigrants hate white Americans anyways.

This ain't 1950's America with the strong homogenous communities and picket fences you're defending. You're basically a mercenary for globalist banking interests. This same group is foaming at the mouth to start WW3 with Russia, because Russia and china are moving away from the dollar and planning their own trade exchanges. It's about money and power nothing else.

If I had to do it all over again I would just go directly to trade school. College is a waste of time outside of the partying and the girls unless your trying to be a doctor or something.

I was an instructor at West Point for 2 years. These kids don't go there to get discipline and respect, they already have it.

I will tell you if you decide to go, you must be well aware that this is no ordinary college. Long hours and not much time off. You only get a couple of weeks off in the summer. The rest of the summer you are doing military training. It's very stressful and you have to be right mentally.

If you drop out you have to pay Uncle Sam back or you have to enlist and serve X amount of years.

If he desires a career in the military, then it’s certainly a great career starter.

If his family doesn’t have $120K (state school) or $200K+ (private school) to spend on college, it’s another great option.

However if he’s uncertain, and doesn’t really want it, then there’s a great chance he’ll wash out.

And yes, it does lead to great things in life....24 years later you will be posting at SBR.

Once you have 20 years service you can retire and the pension checks keep rolling in like clockwork while you can probably get a decent government civil service job making bank....If I had to do it all over again I would of at least considered it. At the time I just wasn’t ready for someone to be in my face telling my ass what, when and how to do shit....Mad respect for all those who serve....They make good ass money and the benefits are some of the best you can get anywhere

If one wants to become a military officer, then yes, I would recommend a military academy. But in case it's just for a degree, then it's not worth it. When I recall my days at Coast Guard Academy, it was a completely miserable time, I didn't learn honor or respect, because I dispised the whole thing. What saved me there was sports.

I have no idea really. But, I do know that my ass would have much better served by joining the military, or going to a service academy. I wouldn’t have been accepted in an academy since my grades were shit as school was optional for me by junior year, but I could have served. Just show the kid my thread, and see if he would rather have that life.

I would have thrived at that shit too. I’m great at taking direction. I’ll fight for the USA no matter what, regardless if it’s really some bullshit about oil and money. I don’t snitch, and I follow orders. And I could be a cold blooded killer, if necessary. Really missed my calling. Don’t let the kid go down a path of indifference where he ends up bored, and without purpose. Maybe he’s built for something else though. I hope he finds his way.
