What's a tout?

This is a person who either sells or gives away their selections on games, races or contests. This person could work for a handicapping enterprise or assist other sharps and professional gamblers with their picks.

The term is believed to come from "touting," which is a more polite way to brag. In this case, a tout is bragging about their ability to pick the correct teams and win wagers. A tout will rarely offer their services for free, but may share their picks after they have made them. If a tout is to share picks, or explain the logic behind the picks, they will almost always request a fee. Their fees typically consist of a flat rate plus a percentage of the winnings. If the tout picks the wrong side, they still get to keep the flat rate. In this sense, a tout can be a pricey middle-man between a player and the bookmaker.

A tout is a person that sells their sports picks. All of them claim to be winners, like maggie the non pro idiot, but most are losers who prey on the ignorance of others. Don't let one separate you from your money.
