    Favorite Music Genre

We have a very diverse poster base it seems and I'd like to know who here likes what... that why when I host your ass down here I know how to rock the place once we bring the chicks to the house!

I like most genres listed, I listen to everything, being a musician I believe being an artist demands you try to be open minded to experiment!

NOT IN THAT WAY YOU FUKKS (Not that there is anything wrong with that ttwarior )

    My top 5 bands:

    Stone Temple Pilots
    Led Zeppelin
    The Doors
    Ramones
    Alice In Chains

Yep, well country is pretty popular in the US, especially middle and south so... even more popular than "pop"

I lumped the 2 most similar genres, 20 options is crazy, 10 is viable... that said... all the new wave clubs I go to, they play 2 things mostly! Punk rock and new wave!

Let me expand... Iggy Pop is a punk symbol, but he has made new wave songs like Fire Girl

New wave bands like The Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshess and the B-52's had their origins in Punk Rock, as they were groupies/hardcore fans of the british punk wave lead by Pistols, Clash, The Damned... who were influenced by Ramones, NY Dolls, Television, Blondie and Iggy Pop himself.

Many and most punk artists evolved into something else, call it post punk or new wave...

Most of the "combos" really don't make sense. In reality ROCK is one genre with many sub-genres... should look like this

    Classical
    Blues
    Soul
    Rock
    Country
    Jazz
    Hip Hop

I like them all... but Country and Hip Hop at the bottom for me

Believe me... Nobody wants a poll with more than 10 options...I tried to spread it with the most similar genres/subgenre... IMO Grunge is a derived from Alt Rock and so is New wave from punk rock...

Classic rock derives from the blues!!! Jazz derives from classical music! That was my reasoning.

And yeah I fukkin hate country, and I fukkin hate reggae/ska! Fukk that shit. Like some hip hop... the old school shit fukk the new shit!

And Johnny Cash RULES evntho he was a lil country!

I hear what you are saying, but there was a pretty sharp fork from the Sex Pistols and Dead Boys to The Cure and Depeche Mode. I like both btw, but I am wearing a Dead Kennedy's t-shirt right now so you know where my heart lies.

Haha good shit!!! I went to see Bad Religion a few months ago. Immpecable!

Growing up I was a grunge/alt rock with strong leans to punk rock and classical rock... The Filth & The Fury documentary about the Pistols and the general punk scene changed my life... I saw Hype! The Year Punk Broke by Sonic Youth and Nirvana and it was amazing as well... I grew musically under those DIY ideals... I love Television and Ramones, love Iggy!

New wave has a lot of goodies but I always felt it had to much synths and lacked guitars for the most part! I am a guitar guy! I need reefs! I need reverb and fuzz!

Maybe the DIY and the social ideals pretty much join them more than the sound... I get what you are saying as well!

The usually cater to similar crowds! At least down here most punk rockers rock to new wave and vice versa!

And no biggie, living in Costa Rica and all, for me to see non mainstream bands I have to travel.

Many bands Im a great fan and never saw... Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Sonic Youth, Pixies (might get a chance still)...

Need to hurry and watch Queens of the Stone Age live before Homme kicks someone else in the head or else LMAO

D'Arcy was smoking hot back in the day... hell of a bass player too.
