Anyone Try a KETTLEBELL? Never knew it existed

    What up?

I ordered one online and it tells what size for each weight group, but they must be out of their mind!

I won a 35 dollar gift card on a penny auction (yes, penny auctions are legit and you can make some serious coin, gift cards, etc).

Point being, I ordered a 35 LB kettlebell according to my weight and I'm not playing, it was heavier than I thought. Makes the heart pound, but is super for the core!.

I just fear that I'll get a heart attack as I'm 44 going on 45. It's a great piece of equipment.

Can fellas list their experience with it? thanks

One fear, don't want to drop it or use it with a kid or pet around.

JJ,Opie, BigDay, better yet, King Mayan, you must have tried this out? feedback needed

I don't like the Turkish Getup. I don't like it over my face and it looks complicated. Figure 8 and exercises like that are much easier and safer. I still appreciate the feedback. On this video, she's using a light weight. If the 35 pounder dropped on my face.....it would be bad.

    Kettlebell swing is awesome.

If you were looking for the single perfect exercise—one that would not only burn a crapload of calories, scorch fat, build muscle, boost your endurance, but that would also improve your posture and keep you from getting lower back pain—you’d need to look no further than the kettlebell swing.

thank you. I know about it and do it. Obliques are my issue. I'm a big guy with fairly big muscles, not a big gut; it's those damn love handles. I hate them

The guy was replying to me with advice, but you saw what I wrote and posted that video. I use a 35 LB kettlebell. The 10 LB one didn't seem like it would offer much of a workout. Even the "Figure 8" (at 35 LB) for 5-10 minutes would offer more and the Turkish one looked complicated. Kettlebells are supposed to take the difficulty out of the exercise. I wasn't feeling that Turkish getup.

For possibly the first time ever I agree with Brooks. Turkish getups will whip your ass if done properly. You might think 10lbs is nothing, but if you've never done them or haven't been working out regularly (likely the case), do 3 sets of 10 each side (again, with proper form) and get back to me.

Kettlebells are a staple at all the Crossfit gyms, as stated above kb swings are great core exercises. Must use proper form.

Been lifting for a long time in my life...

    I see it like this.....

You have the superior free weight lifters....

    You have the cardio freaks....

    You have the yoga enthusiasts...

    Then comes the Kettlebell people....

    Personally you need free weights....

    Mild cardio.....

And you'd see a lot of results.

Every body part needs different amount of weight...

Don't know how a 35lb bell... gives you everything you need?

the turkish getup isn't hard at all if it is it is only revealing your weak muscles and balancing skills. That isn't an insult just a reality. I've seen guys who have worked out for years try kettlebells for the first time and they are falling all over the place. Not because they can't lift them but because they have no real balancing skills.

Balance is a necessity. I'm far from weak but having the kettlebell in the direction of my face, always bothers me. What I like is that it's an at-home piece of equipment, makes the heart pound like no other, and works everything.

Some of these movements such as the figure 8 are less risky, quite fun,and good regarding balance. You can take it as far as you want to. I'm an upper body guy and it's a lower body movement that nails everything. When you know that your heart is racing and it doesn't take much to accomplish this, it's perfect. I can see that my love handles are narrowing.

It's been a mere month and a half and I'm much more powerful than I was before and it's noticeable. Kettlebell is the best thing that happened to my health. It takes consistency, dedication, and every ounce of HEART that you have. do the exercise properly. I PROMISE, you won't regret it. This is coming from a guy that lived in the weight room in the late eighties in high school. Middle age and in charge. I'm so confident. Don't Do anything half assed. Quote me on that.

It's been said tons of times. Nothing worthwhile is easy . Do the work and you'll love yourself and what you've accomplished. I'm giving inspirational speeches because this thing has given me my health back; or at least in the proper direction (of course will take time; just like anything
