Just hang around people that play poker. If you don't have any poker buddies; go to google and try to find local poker home games in your area, they're there. As people start trusting you pretty soon after playing poker with them; just ask them do they know a local and your golden. Out of the thousands of people I play with around the Houston area, it seems like 1 out of 3 people who play poker know a local. Good Luck.

A quicker way depending on where you live is a local bar. Just go there and start complaining about your offshore account or how your own local is unreliable or doesn't offer bets that bookies know are sucker bets (futures, parlays). If you're in a rust belt city or a town with a lot of micks and goombas, you should have yourself a local by the weekend.

    VFW, DAV, etc.

Been a while, but all those clubs during the day were loaded with degenerate card players and one of the bosses took action.
Don`t expect exotics. BUT it was a nice way to settle up.
I used to go in every two weeks or so, have a couple 60 cent Buds, and pay/collect cash.
    Very gentlemanly.

The books name was "Rabbit", his brother ran the bar, and they raked like $1 a pot. Good little BLT sandwich as well.
