Rock and Roll Hall of Fame officially a joke

what is the point anymore ?

Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, Chic, Lou Reed, Joan Jett
look at the inductees to vote for
    this is a shame.
these bands did very little special at all
the three first bands mentioned above are lousy players.
Of all these to vote for there are only two worthy of
entry and that's the Spinners and Stevie Ray.

meanwhile the official BAN on prog rock continues
with the likes of Yes and Jethro Tull thoroughly ignored.
but hey, since just about everyone gets in, it's only a
    matter of when.

I don't really pay much attention to the Hall of Fame recently, but I can see your point. I hear Green Day Songs on the radio everyday and they've been around for over 20 years and had a ton of hits. I can see them being in. I don't know why they are banning progressive rock though. Hell, N.W.A. is up for nomination this year and that is gangster rap. Joan Jett is a well known name and has one of the biggest Rock and Roll anthems in history, I can see her getting in. Have the Cars gotten in yet?

Areal joke is when Jethro Tull won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Metal performance in 1989 over Metallica. JT certainly does deserve to be in the Hall of Fame though.

Green Day should probably get in...and I'm not that big of a fan.

The others, I dunno. NIN borderline. Kinda like Dale Murphy I guess.

that's all it is. i visited the city for a pats playoff game right before the hall was built..
the city was in rough shape.. lots of depression.. believe it or not, (this was '93)
the entire concept of a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame at the time was controversial.
Perhaps some saw ahead what it would ultimately become (a glorified hard rock cafe)
    - some such as Pete Townsend said they didn't want any part of it because rock n' roll
is supposed to be protest/rebel/anti-commericial, anti-establishment etc and should not
be sullied by a corporate "sellout". Nobody talks like this now.

Lou Reed would have laughed at this! May he rest in peace.
