Here is a newer hard rock band from Australia. I have all 3 of their CD's(yes I actually bought them) and they are very good. They have an AC/DC sound.

The funny thing is, I'm going to see a Nirvana tribute show tonight at a local venue. It's for the whole 20th anniversary thing. I hadn't even planned on it, but a buddy of mine just texted me yesterday and I figured what the hell.

That's pretty cool. Let us know how is was.

It's also funny I popped that Beavis and Butthead CD in because Nirvana has a song on it. "I hate myself and want to die"

    Only if you can't add.

The middle school kids who fell in love with Nirvana weren't exactly old enough go around playing dive bars in shitty rock bands. They had to wait a few years. Like till they were in their 20's. So take a 13 year old kid in 1994, add ten years, and what do you get? 2004.

And I am bitter. I'm bitter that the guys in the 50's had Elvis, the guys in the 60's had the Stones/The Beatles, the guys in the 70's had Zeppelin/The Who/Pink Floyd, the guys in the 80's had AC/DC, Metallica, and Guns n Roses, the guys in the 90's had Tom Petty/Black Crowes/Red Hot Chili Peppers, and what the hell do we have now? Radiohead/Arcade Fire. Where's our Led Zeppelin? Where's our Rolling Stones? Where's our AC/DC? They don't exist. Rock is penetrating dead and grunge penetrating killed it. So YEAH, I'm a little bitter about it. At least I'm bitter about shit I actually can't control. All you grunge loving pussies are bitter about shit you could completely control, if you had the balls to act like men instead of the whiny little bitches you are.

Listen to Kyuss' Blues for the Red Sun. Enjoy.

Please don't call Metallica's Black album anything more than a crappy pop album. It's strays from the essence of what made that band awesome, and was also the transition album between greatness and complete crap. That garbage is sell out city.

Wow! This thread really took off! Great to see.

I noticed a few posters talking about Stone Temple Pilots. My all time favorite band. They really didn't get that much respect. Competition was extreme during the early 90's era. Everywhere you turned another band had a hot album. Pearl Jam was always better.. Smashing Pumpkins... Metallica... Seemed like STP never got any respect. Kind of deflating... and then Weiland had his issues too. At least they came up with 2 solid albums before he went totally nuts. I think it was the first week in December of 1996 STP was at the Palace of Auburn Hills near Detroit. Great concert... LOCAL H was warming up for them. That was one of the very last concerts Weiland performed before going into rehab. He was a nutcase on stage that night... high as a fukking kite

Madcap bitching and whining about 90's music fan's alleged bitchiness/whininess!!!

Guy has been bitching and whining this whole thread! Somebody give him his goddamn pacifier already.

You still have your Stones records and your Zep records, so why the hell are you complaining? The government isn't going to raid your house and confiscate all your dad's vinyl. So what exactly is the problem? Listen to what you like instead of dwelling on what you don't like.

You obviously had a rough adolescence, which caused some inability to form positive attachments to things from that period in your life, music included. You then sought comfort in something that existed completely outside of your bleak worldview, and found it in classic rock, music that was made before you were born and thus had no negative affiliations with.

I'm starting to think there was a kid at your school who stuffed your bitch ass in the locker on more than one occasion and probably stole your lunch money to boot, and this kid more than likely wore a Nirvana t-shirt. I can understand the bitterness on some level now. It's not Nirvana's fault. Their merchandising team didn't screen buyers, and as a result, a few bad apples got their hands on some Nirvana gear.

Let it go Madcap........It's not your fault.........It's not your fault..............It's not your fault............

1993 also saw TOOL releasing Undertow. That pretty much marked the new era of progressive rock. Though not as commercially popular as the listed bands, as far as talent goes Danny Cary is easily top 3 drummer of last 30 years.

^^^ Agreed, Danny Carey a beast on the kit. Also Jimmy Chamberlain (Smashing Pumpkins) was a magnificent drummer from that period.

Stone Temple Pilots were a great band, I enjoyed them more than Pearl Jam or Nirvana. Core, Purple, Tiny Music, and Four are records I can listen to all the way through. They were a band that evolved with each album. Although the first record was largely that Seattle grunge sound, they quickly became more multidimensional with elements of classic rock, glam, and psychedelia.

Weiland was an epic performer live. Anyone who thinks 90's rock was all gloom and doom have never seen STP in concert. Sounds like that show in Detroit was off the hook. "High as a kite" Scott may be bad for band members or management, but great for fans.

May not be as good as Tool, but still felt like posting this. A semi new EP by Lesser Key with ex Tool bassist Paul D'Amour.

If Led Zeppelin/Stones et al were still in their primes/performing, or we had other bands around that rocked like they did you wouldn't hear me complaining at all. That's the entire point you illiterate dumbass. People of the 60s/70s/80s had the best rock bands of all time pumping out great albums on a yearly basis, today we ain't got shit.

Yeah, I'm sure......you sound exactly like the kinda guy to step in and defend the very people you detest. You're the guy who puts morals ahead of your own personal agenda. So nice of you intervene on behalf of all those "whiny, sissy, pussy, bitchy kids" who lacked the fortitude to "be a man." Self-sacrifice has always been one of your strongest attributes. You're an asset to humanity. I had you all wrong.

I guess your forgot the part about how I was a Nirvana fan back in middle school? I was also big for my age/played linebacker on the football team. People didn't mess with me. The kids that got pushed around were often "only child" kids with no siblings and divorced parents. They sulked about and got picked on for it by other people. But they also had good drugs. In general I'm not a huge fan of needless/unprovoked aggression and I stood up to that shit. I'm sorry you can't accept the fact that some of us quickly outgrew grunge music when we got our drivers licenses and fake ids.

The 90's were a lot more than "grunge" music but I've said as much and you're obviously content to live in the land of make-believe, so long as it gives you that sense of superiority you so desperately crave.

I'm sorry you can't accept the fact that some of "us" outgrew Foghat when we got our false teeth and had our hip replaced.

Sebastian Bach, in his prime, was one of the greatest vocalists ever imo. I challenge any human being with a soul to listen to "In a Darkened Room" and not get chills from that vocal performance.
