What do you keep your thermostat at?

I used to live with a cheap rooster_eater who wanted to keep it at 80 in the Summer and 65 in the Winter. No other reason than because he was as cheap as humanly possible and not just on heat but everything. What people like that don't understand is that people universally hate cheap people.

I am thinking 72-74 in the Summer and 75-76 in the winter.

Would not recommend so high in the winter if heat pump

How could you live in 78 degrees in the summer? My friend keeps it at 68 to 70. To me 72 is probably best, but I can compermise up to 74. 76+ and I am in a constant state of being uncomfortable.

This is a huge issue, been studying efficiency/cost models for hours here and the appropriate number is 71 degrees. So glad this is in players talk with UK/MSU on and Veterans day threads being salooned.

73 during the summer but I leave it off during the colder months. Don't mind if it gets into the low 60s inside, just need to grab a blanket and I'm fine.

November-February my electric bill goes from $140 to $40

Well when I was growing up I lived in 85 with no air conditioning so 78 feels very cool to me.

76 in the summer. Occasionally down to 75-74 when I go to bed. I could leave it off in winter, but I usually have to fight with my wife on that.

Key is to have your house properly zoned with digital, programmable thermostats. House has 4 units, and when we're sleeping, the unit cooling the master is the only one running. Much more efficient this way.

    80 in the Summer. $350 a month

80 in the Winter (although usually a lot lower). $100 a month.
