Hahahaha. That land will be worth tens of thousands one day. Maybe not soon but that's a bargain.

Yea, the land HAS to be worth the asking price, right? If you razed the "house" (if you can call it that?) I wonder what the property taxes on undeveloped land are in a bankrupt city?

Think long term you bonehead. Long after you choke on a chicken bone and die, leaving your family nothing more than the bone you choked on, someone will be the owners of land where the city decides to revitalize. Low risk, high reward. Do you ever use your brain for anything

There must be an enormous short term downside to ownership.

You'd think someone would have bought up an entire block and turned it into a community redevelopment project or something. As Kraken said it's an obvious goldmine for some time in the future.

That is taking a sunny view of things, if you believe that this wont be more common throughout other cities and towns, and people will return to Detroit to rebuild and start businesses etc. Seats on the Titanic were pretty expensive at one time.

Titanic II maiden voyage tickets drawing big interest, big wallets

A rep for the Blue Star Line says they've already received offers for 'more than a million dollars' from those looking to experience the maiden voyage.

Maybe 100 years from now there will be nostalgic value in the shipwreck that is Detroit.
