God pulled the plunger on the pinball machine, whatever the ball bounces off of after that is random luck.

Homeboy is not afraid to throw a hip into the machine tho' and alter the course of the ball if needed.

Yes, many religions including Catholicism accept evolution. Not all christian religions believe in a literal translation of the entire Bible.

You can believe whatever the fck you want. Nobody else really knows either. I've read some interesting stuff in regards to micro evolution vs macro evolution which would support that theory. Micro evolution is easy to prove in the real world. The faster you can run, the more likely you are to survive and ****, so over time animals get faster and muscles get bigger because you pass on those genes. Macro evolution - an eyeball. Doesn't grow one cell at a time. A bunch of parts all need to exist simulatenously for the idea of sight to exist and thus evolve. The brain, and retna and all that crap, if you dont have all 8 billion whatever parts then eyesight does not work. And it didn't work when it only had 1 or 2 parts. So the idea an eye evolved into what it is today over time doesn't really make sense.
I read about it a long time ago, but it supports your idea. That evolution does exist, but that a greater intervention may have helped push it along. I'm no scientist... read up on it if you are interested. If you can find a non-biased opinion good luck. I gave up on this shit after college. Too many theories nobody knows what the fck they are talking about and all it does is lead to wars, ignorance, and killing people. life started somewhere somehow and it didnt materialize out of nowhere into an intelligent being one day, so evolution on a universal perspective is pretty hard to deny. The real question is do humans exist on this planet because of evolution.
