    Laptop/Charger Help

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and the adapter is plugged in properly into the computer and it is "Plugged in, but not charging"

Usually it reads "plugged in, and charging".

It doesn't lose battery but stays at 18% full till I pull out the charger and it will die. What's the problem? Battery for comp or adapter? Cheap fix or expensive?

    Thanks boys.

Sounds like the battery is shot.

It sounds like the battery is not taking/holding a charge. If you take the battery out and plug the adapter into the computer and it turns on, it is most likely that the battery is not good.

See this at work all the time with our old business laptops. Batteries eventually go to shit. If you haven't had good battery life for a while it finally got to the point where the battery is now useless.

How expensive are batteries? Where should I purchase a new one?

Batteries aren't too expensive. Ebay is where I have bought them before. What is the model of Toshiba Satellite?

Here's the thing, your laptop is fine with it on the power adapter. Do you use it often enough on battery power to warrant buying it?

Did you pirate the Windows 7 operating system? Believe it or not that's what did my battery in. I started getting that same message you're getting.

I didn't pirate sh*t. I took out battery and put it back in and it started charging again, but now has stopped.
